  1. Come on guys, I thought that this is a serious forum...
  2. Hey guys, I need your help to configure my hikvision DS-7116-SN/P NVR. I've recently connected the NVR, my cameras, and network. Live view is working prefectly and everything seems to be smooth (at start). And then the problems begin: 1. I've tried to install an HDD, first I've tried to install Seagate 2TB ST20000DM001 and after that WD 1TByte WD10EURS, in both cases the NVR did not saw my hard drives from the setup menu and I couldn't use nither of them. Checked those hard drives on a regular PC and both of them are working perfectly. 2. I've tried to configure the SMTP to send me email alerts, gmail SMTP did not worked, so after digging some forums I've found that some folks that had the same problem succeeded with GMX server. So I've tried that, and 'test mail' has been successfully sent (and received ) - BUT motion detection alarms where not send by email, in any configuration that I tried. Continue to check, and discovered that my firmware version is V2.3.6 build 131120 and hikvision site has released a newer firmware. I thought to my-self that that must be the problem and upgraded to firmware version 3.0.16 b 150617 released by hikvision. After upgrading - NVR startup time is several minutes (In previous version it was few seconds), Hard drive is still not recognized, and now even GMX sever as SMTP server is not working anymore . Please help.

    NVR system Design

Hi there I've bought an hikvision 7116 NVR with 8 POE ports and some non POE wired ip cameras (with external power jack). Well, I am tring to connect to cameras to the POE port unsuccessfully. I've tried to add an adapter from POE to both ethernet and power jack, and the camera didn't started up. I've tried to connect an external power to the camera and the data to the POE port, and the NVR didn't recognized the camera. Is there any way to connect a regualr non-poe IP camera to the POE ports so the NVR will recognize the camera (adapters or design)? When i'm connecting the camera the ethernet the NVR recognize the camera on the network and working fine, still, I wish to connect some of the cameras to POE ports. I will be greatful to your help.
