  1. Hi! So we're having a problem when using centralized power supply. Here's the system (residential installation btw): 6x Analog 700TVL (960H) Cameras DC 12V 1x 8-channel (Hikvision) Turbo HD DVR 1x 18-channel Centralized Power Supply box (individually fused) Cable wire used: cat5e UTP (with video baluns on both ends for the cameras) Cable runs are just around 10 to 60 meters (max). What happens is, upon plugging in the cameras to the centralized power supply, we experience interference on the screen (those wavy black bars). When only one camera is connected, it's fine but the more you add cameras, interference kicks in. On the other hand, when we use individual adapters (12V/1A), no interference experienced. Will there be a difference if we use a lesser channel Centralized Power Supply box (maybe the 8-channel one) since we only have 6 cameras installed? Lastly, if it says "individually fused" does it mean the power distribution is equal even though we're only using 6 channels out of 18? We're thinking that the box s giving more power to the cameras since it only has 6 connected.
  2. Hi, I would like to ask what NAS specifications should I be looking for when we already have a PC-based CCTV System using Geovision's GV-1220A PCI Card. Currently, the system already has 16 Analog Cameras connected to it. So if we're going to have a 8-bay NAS for additional storage, what brand/model or specifications should I be looking for to be able to store my recording smoothly to it. I'm aware that if you chose an underwhelming spec NAS, the recordings will lag or something. Thanks in advance.
  3. Hi, What specs should I look for if we plan to add an 8-bay NAS as additional storage to our PC-based CCTV System. 16 cameras are currently connected to the said system. What do I need so that the recording of files won't have any problems when the HDD on PC gets full it will automatically save on the NAS?
  4. Hi, I'm planning to have a IP CCTV System consisting of 32 IP CCTV Cameras (2 Megapixel). I was wondering if it's possible to connect the 2 PoE Switches at the back of the NVR (Hikvision DS-9632NI-XT) since it has 2 Gigabit Network Interface since we already have 2 24-port PoE switch (ZyXEL GS1900-24HP)?

    Sorry but how do I check how much spare network bandwidth I have? I have to double-check but I think the NAS and IP cameras are all connected on the same switch (Cisco® SRW248G4P 48-Port 10/100 + 4-Port Gigabit Switch). Should I separate the NAS from the IP cameras?
  7. We have this issue when CCTV recordings skips and hangs when being to stored to the NAS. On the other hand, there's no problem when it comes to storing it on the PC's local disk/HDD. The system consist of about 19-20 IP CCTV Cameras. The idea is when the storage of the PC's local disk/HDD reached a particular level, it will then store the recorded files to the NAS so that the PC's storage won't be full. Btw, we use NVS Client software on the PC. Any suggestions/recommendations?
  8. Hi, Could the said software ( NVS Client v2.3.2.8 ) cause the problem in which the recorded files from the CCTV cameras skips and hangs when viewing it? The problem is only experienced once the recorded files are being saved to the NAS. On the other hand, when it is only saved on the PC's local disk, there are no problems encountered. So which one is causing the said problem? Software? NAS? PC? It is given that all IP CCTV cameras connected to the PC have stable network connection. Thanks!
  9. I'm not sure if I'm in the right section to post this one since I couldn't find a section for NVRs. Anyway, could anyone explain what does Decoding mean when it comes to DVRs/NVRs? I'm checking out this data sheet of Hikvision's DS-7600NI-E Series (Plug&Play NVR) and it says: Decoding Capability 4-channel model: 4-ch@1080p 8-channel model: 8-ch@720p, 6-ch@1080p 16-channel model: 16-ch@4CIF, 12-ch@720p, 6-ch@1080p Does this pertain to the NVR's live viewing?   12. Hi, So we have this 2MP IP dome camera from Hikvision (Model: DS-2CD2720F-I) and upon testing several units, we observed that its IR reacts a bit late. If we turn off the lights, the IR will activate about 4-5 seconds. On the other hand, when we turn back on the lights, the IR will deactivate after 4-5 seconds as well. Is there a setting for this? 'cause normally the IR should activate/deactivate instantaneously (or at most 1-2 seconds? lol). Thanks for the help in advance.

  15. Thank you for the feedback! Yup, I'll just make sure to disable the POE if it doesn't automatically deactivates. Upon double-checking, the IP cameras max power consumption is between 7-8W, while the POE switch has 170W power budget. Computing it, all cameras will consume around 150W in total. So I think it's still safe, right?
