  1. Are there 960H cctv cameras available. I read to get the most out of your 960H DVR is to use 960H cameras. I haven't been able to find them online. I emailed Swann & asked them if they sell 960H cameras to use with there 960H Swann DVR's. Answer from them: Yes, 960H cameras are compatible with there DVRs. Are 900TVL considered 960H?
  2. Yes, it is normal. Let me explain as below. Analog camera sends a TV signal. The signal is decoded into a digital video data, by so called video decoder, before being displayed. TV normally uses a better and expensive video decoder but DVR does not (may not able to afford a good/expensive one). Thank you, you answered my question. Instead of running the video signal from the DVR directly to the TV, is it possible to run the video signal from the DVR to my DVD player/recorder that has a built in TV tuner, then to the TV, in hopes of receiving an improved video on my TV from my camera?
  3. Is it normal to receive a poor video quality using a LCD PC (4:3 ratio) monitor than analog TV (4:3 ratio)? This is what I have experienced, I connected my CCTV camera with 900TVL directly to TV using the BNC cable, the BNC cable needed to be converted to a BNC to RCA composite plugs on the TV side. The video quality was good. (Here I connected my camera to my DVR). For the HP monitor, I used VGA connectors on both ends, DVR to PC monitor. On the DVR, I used the 960H setting, then the D1 setting, used the DVR's lowest screen size, I believe 1048x765. No difference on either of these settings. I also hit the auto select screen size button on the PC monitor. I didn't have the proper connectors to connect my camera direct to the PC monitor.

Can I connect my DVR to my old annalog TV?

One final question. Is DVR signal output the same as a DVD signal output?

Can I connect my DVR to my old annalog TV?

I was looking around my A/V system, I have my DVD player/recorder, with a built in HDD with one S Video input free, will connecting the DVR to my S Video input of my DVD player work? I will still need an adapter for VGA from DVR to S Video to my DVD player.

Can I connect my DVR to my old annalog TV?

Thanks, that's what I had figured, but I'm uncertain what type of video signal my DVR outputs, whether analog or some other signal. This way I'll know whether I need a signal converter for the VGA to RCA. I apologize for my ignorance. I do appreciate the help thus far.

Can I connect my DVR to my old annalog TV?

I guess I don't fully understand how to connect this bridge two gear cable. The only video outputs I have on my DVR are: HDMI & VGA.
  10. Received my Swann SWDVR4-4200 today with a Swann PRO-980 camera. Is it possible to connect this DVR to my analog TV? It has only RCA & coaxial inputs. I thought I could hold off on purchasing a low cost LCD monitor until I can become more financially sound. Thank you, jprzybilla
