HI finally someone who knows this stuff. Yes I rely on those SR packets to sync the playback of the video. I use my own NTP server inside the same LAN and clock has never been a problem this way (no Inet connection in my cases). ONVIF uses SR packets and since I am using HIKvision ONVIF cams (claimed so) I was expecting they followed ONVIF standard but it seems they don't ! THX 4 help

Hi It's hard to believe that no one has had the same problem. HIK's RTCP implementation is not following the international standards hence it is not possibly to correctly sync audio and video when doing playback with such devices. Is this the right forum where to ask such tech questions or should I try somewhere else ? THX

AVI is just a file container for audio/video. Inside an AVI file you can insert video which has been encoded with any kind of codec (like h264, MJPEG, MPG-4 etc.). I know that many SW manufacturers use other extension but in the reality they just pack the video with its original codec. Keep in mind it is VERY CPU consuming to change/convert from one video codec o an other. When talking about IPcam the video is encoded in the cam itself and the NVR is simply storing the audio/video streams and doing re-encoding mostly while exporting the video e.g. on a DVD/USB device.

HI I know one SW (Linux based) which would record the video as it is (no re-encoding) but it supports some brands as HIKVision, Sony, AXIS and all the ones sending standard h264 via RTSP. Which cam brand do you use and how many cams do u need to connect ? THX

Hi CCTV HD IPcams usually send the stream in H.264 format. AVI is just a container which could wrap that h264. You need a NVR which will not re-encode the video stream so that you can export the footage as it is ? Is that what you are looking for ? THX

Hey do you still need help ? You asked about a wireless POE ? I am not sure what you mean, you surely cannot power up and cam via wireless 200feet are ok if you can run a good CAT6 cable to bring power and data (via POE switch). Or you can avoid POE and use the local barn power line (if any). Since this sounds an open space, one option could be to use a nice PTZ on top of a pole which would overlook the entire area. Catching her ex coming into the area might be enough as a warning than trying to catch him doing precisely something in the house/barn etc. Isn't it ? THX

Hi bit confusing the way you post. Which CCTV cameras are you using which send AVC ? It sounds more you want to convert in real time an AVC stream from e.g. a DSRL camera. How many channels do you want to convert at the same time ? Which features do you need in the NVR ? THX

Hello we have been doing custom NVR SW since many years. We have been always struggling with HIKvision way of implementing international standards. In current cases I am having huge problem to keep in sync video/audio streams from some HIK Ipcams. The issue is down to the fact that HIK firmware doesn't send "RTCP sender request" packets hence I have no way to keep the video in sync since I am using HIK timestamp for that. Firmware tested: v.5.0.2 build 130709 (faulty) v.5.1.0 build 131202 (faulty) v.5.2.0 build 140721 (faulty) v.5.1.6 build 140412 (correct) Is there someone aware of such issue ? THX

I agree with all said here about false outdoor triggering and I would also consider the following issues: 1) who/what you do protect yourself from ? Do you want to catch people walking in your property ? Do you want to eventually identify their faces ? As said some external triggers would be more effective. 2) About fps. I assume you don't need to keep days of recording for later use. Why then not using full 25/30fps and just record over the old stuff all the time ? With the HDD now its very easy and convenient. The issus is that if and when you will really need to go back to a recording to identify someone then you would hope to have as much fps as possible Using low fps it is used for saving HDD space and be able tor ecord and store many days on the same HDD. But probably in your case you would not need more then a day or anyway not for a very long period. Is this your case ? 3) For a cheap testing I would save on the analogue capture board and go for a simple Ipcam with its dedicate simple CCTV SW. You might get what you want and still some some money THX CIPO

You are then talking about live streaming video which you can do cheaply with a webcam rather then with a CCTV system. Anyway ..... it all depends on size of the video and frame per seconds (fps). You can successfully see "what's going on" already at 16 Kbps and 8 fps but for more decent quality I would suggest at least a 100 Kbps at 320x240 using some mpg4 based codec as RealVideo. If you want to get higher resolution keep in mind that an IPcam at highest resolution and 25/30fps will eat about 1 Mbps to provide a good quality. Are you using a DVR/NVR system ? Are the cameras analogue or IP ? THX CIPO

Hi I would say that your recording unit (DVR or NVR) should be in the warehouse and therefore Internet will be a concern only when connecting to it remotely. NVR uses LAT cables (e.g. CAT5) building a sort of Inranet (a private LAN) which is actually not directly connected to Internet. Using IPcamera instead of analogue ones (through an NVR) will give you the benefit of an easier way of adding more cameras and expanding your system in the future. DVR with analogue capture cards have their bottleneck in the capability of adding new cards and in their analog ports limitation. While adding more IPcam to your Intarnet would be quite straightforward. Considering a good IPcam stream to be at around 1-4 Mbps you should have enough capacity for many cams using a 100Mbps or 1 Gbps LAN configuration. An Hybrid DVR (with both AN and IP ports) might be also an alternative. Do you have any old equipment (e.g. cameras) that you want to re-use from your previous location ? THX BR CIPO
