  1. Charging upgrade fees for minor software updates is exactly the reason why I went with Avigilon. All minor upgrades are included. And every three years or so you can pay a very reasonable flat fee per server (not camera based) to get the next major version. And depending upon when you buy, the next major version may be included for free.
  2. Cool stuff. But there doesn't seem to be any information as to when this will be available. I'm guessing it will be part of ACC 6. Anyone have intel on when that might show up?
  3. That's kind of what I expected. I'd be willing to drop a few bucks on an Avigilon multisensor camera if it only used 1 license and had the analytics built in. At least that way I feel like I'm getting more bang for my buck. I have an outside corner where 270 degrees of coverage would be awesome. But it seems like their multisensor units don't have analytics yet. Do you know when that might change?
  4. The link you provided is not working. I get a black page that says "40th floor", that's all. The rest of your post is somewhat confusing, probably because it's referencing the content in the link.
  5. I have a trial version of Avigilon ACC 5 Core and a Hikvision 2032. I've been able to successfully trigger recording based upon motion detection, but I would like to reduce the false alert rate by using the cameras built in line traversal and intrusion detection features. They both have an option to "Notify Surveillance Center", just like motion detection, but Avigilon does not recognize the event and will not record. Can I assume these features are not supported and I'm stuck with motion detection? I know Milestone supports these functions, but I'm not a fan of their interface. I'm also aware that Avigilon cameras work seamlessly as well, but I'd rather have ten Hikvision cameras than one Avigilon (provided I can get them to work somewhat). FYI, this is for my personal use at my residence.
  6. You raise a good point about using one camera license. That being said, the Hikvision 4200 software is free. Although it has limitations, it does support the Smart features like intrusion detection and line crossing making its way into 2 series cameras. Avigilon only supports the basic motion detection on these units. Do you know if Milestone or any of the other serious packages support the Hikvision Smart features? For my residence, I would like to record all motion, but only get an email alert when a person/vehicle enters my yard, or they loiter in the street for more than a few minutes. Avigilon can do this with their cameras, but at a significant cost.
  7. I assume they will sell at MSRP for a couple months. How are existing cameras priced in relation to MSRP from authorized dealers? I know a direct shipment from China is a fraction of the MSRP, but that comes with firmware language issues I'd rather not deal with. Any idea when they might be available in the US? Sometime this year?
