    Hello from london

Fantastic forum, spent alot of time reading and finally took the leap and regitered in-need of you expert knowledge.
  2. Ok here goes, I have a project handed to me by family run business as they have moved premises. I have already installed patched network as cat 5e was already installed. i would of chose cat6? They now want me to intall cctv? I have chosen ip cctv route think its best and the existing cabling must not be touched so seprate network must be installed. not a problem for me, The problem is the setup and administration of the cctv and switch. I am leaning toward the Hikvision for ip cams, can change on recommendation. No im no good at managed switches, un-manged is just throw in and up. they need around 24 cams i advised less and 1080p, around 16 cam i advised the NVR route was an option until reading the NVR section may think of PC with NVR software. Now the existing data network is running unmanaged switch with 24 Pc or devices with Voip but imm not to touch this Please advise of the best route to take 1 CCTV ip cam 2 switch layer2 managed as so many people are advising? 3 POE switch 180-200w total? 4 PC- old pc do or i5 ? How would you go about this Budget is around 1500 mark GBP upto 2000 NEED TO KEEP IT SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE for my sake Forgot to mention that 4x lcds are required if i go down the PC route how would i disply feedback to the lcds if not then it may have to be NVR?
