  1. I disabled motion detection on all cameras and now the CPU usage is around 8-10% or less instead of 100% all the time. I changed the default view from all 8 cameras to 4. The CPU still gets pegged at 100% when I view from the mobile app.
  2. I just tried reducing the quaility from 100 to 88 for all cameras and bumping them down from 1080 to 720 as well as decreasing the framerate to 14fps.CPU is still maxed out. I disabled all cameras except 3 and that brought the CPU down to around 90% and resolved the issue I was having but I can't keep just 3 camers enabled. Is there anything else I can try?
  3. I have a Dell PowerEdge 2950 with 8GB of RAM, 2x Intel Xeon 5130 2.00GHz processors, Windows Server 2012 R2, PERC 5/i RAID 5 and some external HDs connected for archive. I am running XProtect Essential 2017 R1 and have 8 cameras connected. The cameras are set to 30fps H.264, 1080p with bit rate of 8192, and are recording all the time. I am not concerned about storage space or network bandwidth, that's why I have them at 30fps and 1080p. When I 'save' a recording and play it back on a client PC, it plays without issue but the live view and playback from the web, mobile, and client is choppy and laggy because the CPU is maxed out. If I disable all cameras except one, there is no issue and the CPU usage is normal. Please let me know if there are any settings I can tweak to improve the CPU usage.
  4. Easy. Provided that both users do close the door behind them, the door is not possible to open before card releases the strike, both open the door with about the same strength and speed, the issue is strictly inside the "no name" software. Otherwise I would suspect that door contact produces 2 or more changes of status during door opening, or jitter, first one being masked by the software while next ones are not - again, software fault. When set to fire on duration, door contact should be masked for that entire time. Maybe it is worth getting a trusted name access control software... Thanks. The alarm I'm talking about is an audible alarm that's connected to the alarm output on the system board, it's independent of the software. I tested the door contacts and they seem to be sending just one open/close signal. Could you elaborate on "...fire on duration...masked entire time"? Thanks again
  5. -The electronic strike is fail secure. -The door contact is not integrated with the strike. It's a standard contact mounted near the top of the door. -Both users are about the same strength. When testing, it didn't matter which user left or come back first, the results were the same. -The request to exit button does unlock the door from the inside. -I'm not sure what you mean by door contact jitter, please specify. -Yes, generic means no name. thank you!
  6. Thanks for your reply. The system does have the anti-passback feature and I have confirmed that is has not been enabled. To test, I enabled it and it resulted in a denial of entry (would not unlock the door) but did not set off the forced open alarm. I know there are some systems that have "hard" and "soft" anti-passback, but this one only has the option to enable or disable.
  7. I have a generic Wiegand access control system setup as follows: One door example: -Card reader outside the door -Door contact sensor -Request to exit button inside the door -Electronic strike The issue is as follows: -User A leaves in the morning via the request to exit button. -User B leaves in the morning about an hour later via the request to exit button. -User A comes back in the evening and enters via the card reader. No alarm sounds. -User B comes back in the evening a couple hours later and enters via the card reader. He is granted access, opens the door and the forced open alarm sounds. When I check the logs or monitor the system activity in real-time, everything looks as it should. The user is granted access by the system (after swiping card) and then the door contact shows that the door is open after that. Then it shows a forced open alarm. To test, if User A inside the door activates the request to exit button, after entering, opens the door then closes it but does not leave, when User B tries to enter, there is no alarm. Any feedback or other testing I can do would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Issue with Samsung DVR

They are being used to monitor the front and back of our house. At first, I expected a little better image quality, not being too familiar with security cameras, but then I figured that was standard for the price I paid for the system and it seemed sufficient for what I was using it for.

    Issue with Samsung DVR

Ok, thanks. I already updated the firmware. I'll send it back, it was only purchased a few days ago. Any recommendations for a 4 channel system around $200? Just looking for something basic.

    Issue with Samsung DVR

Thanks, I understand it's a cheap system and from what I read there are mixed reviews. Regardless, it should still work. I simply posted here to see if someone could easily identify the issue and recommend a fix. When the system is up, it serves it's purpose for my needs and is sufficient. Thanks
  11. I set the cameras up and configured the DVR but it won't stay up for more than 2 hours. What happens is, once the system is up for for an hour of two, it drops the network connection and just displays a grey screen. The only way I can get it back up and running is to unplug the power, wait and then plug it back in. Sometimes this does not work the first time and I have to do it a second or third before it comes back up. Again, it only stays up for maximum around 2 hours before I have to repeat the cycle again. A few times, it dropped the network connection and kept the display, the reverse also happened. Troubleshooting steps taken: I have tried both the HDMI and VGA display ports, it happens no matter which one is used. I have tried both DHCP and static IP addresses and also tried a different network cable and switch port. I have tried it with all different camera settings and also, with just one or two cameras plugged in. I have applied the latest firmware and even reset back to factory defaults. After trying all of these, I am still having the same issue. i feel like it may be an OS issue as I can hear the hard drive being written to when it's happening and the NIC link lights are active. Is there any way to re-install the OS or does anyone have any suggestions that I can try myself? I am a computer systems engineer so I'm very capable, but have little experience with DVRs. Samsung SDS-P3042 Thank you.
