    Hello from Sanborn New York

Greetings.... I've been researching CCTV systems for a while now and am about to make some purchases. Looking at 16 channel capability with IP type cameras for residential use. Besides using it for security... I want to see the wildlife around the property and what goes on down below and out of line of sight at the creek (Cayuga) that runs through the property. So far I'm leaning towards a Dahua NVR3216V-P DVR and the use of a DSL converter as the creek is more than 1000 feet away from the house. Instead of a packaged system, I can add cameras as needed and hopefully not run out of channels. I also have more than a few Cognex cameras and would like to do some experimenting with those. Cognex makes cameras for vision systems and runs an application written on a spread sheet looking for defined characteristics within the image..... ect.. very cool stuff. Anyway..... there is a lot of information that you have available to me here and I want to thank you for sharing your knowledge. I want to do this system right the first time and look forward to your guidance and help as I go forward..... If I'm messing up let me know. Thank you, KirbyK
