Can you recheck what URL you are using because the format of the URL in your original post looks wrong but that may depend on what level of dyndns service you signed up for. A proper URL might look like http://myhomecamera.homeip.net:8001 Where 'myhomecamera' is the dyndns name you reserved I use that with no problem to access a camera. Also, I'm sure you know this but you cannot use that URL from inside your house to access it so you have to be outside the firewall.

Personally I would use the export feature instead. That would allow you to create a video with the exact start and end frames you want.

Is it possible that you set milestone to use full frame rate on motion and that is driving the extra bandwidth usage?

A full comparison is here: http://www.milestonesys.com/products/ip_video_software/product_overview I have to say, that although the maintenance is expensive, they just helped me with an issue configuring a new IPX DDK-1600D (which requires the use of admin instead of the out of box default 'root') and the tech support was very responsive. Plus the upgrade to version 7 was covered by the maintenance contract.

Pelco recently announced an IP board for its Spectra IV PTZ dome. I ordered the board and upgraded a Spectra IV SE with 35x day night camera. Took about an hour plus running a cat 5 cable to parallel the analog cable. I am pleased to say that the results are quite good and I now have that camera attached analog to a GE DVMRe with a translator board to access the coaxitron control and IP to a PC running Milestone streaming MPEG4 at 30 FPS. Without entering into another debate on analog vs digital, if you need both or are converting, this is a very good option to use your Pelco dome. You do need to upgrade the camera to the latest firmware, but that is easy if you have the maintenance cable and a laptop computer.

Hardwired - how are your IP110s doing with Milestone? I am again getting disconnects although when I go straight to the pelco browser interface I can see a reliable picture. Andy

Ben, sounds like quite a challenge. I know this is a CCTV forum, but did you consider adding an alarm to your truck with a motion sensor and locking gas cap? If you go the CCTV route, you may spend a lot of time and money and then not be able to identify the person in the dark using wireless cameras. But to answer your question specifically, besides the camera(s), you will need a means of recording the images - most likely a PC based solution but if you scan the forum you will see a lot of good advice on solutions.

Milestone has fixed their driver for the Pelco IP110 with the latest device pack release 3.2. The connection is now reliable. At the previous release (3.1) the server constantly lost connection. The picture quality is very good - looks like the inside of the IP110 is the same camera system as the IS110 analog camera - in fact has the same model numbers. http://www.milestone.dk/support/Support_Updates/ShowSupportNews?id=1564

Update FYI: Panasonic just released their Vista compatible firmware update for the WV-NW484S. I can confirm that it works. With the previous version you could not get a live picture through a browser, it would just install and uninstall the activeX control. I did a similar setup with Axis 241Q 4 port video servers going into a Milestone system - and I agree with your estimate on price. The new Panasonic IP cameras coexist with the older analog via video server just fine. Since the DVMRe records one frame, you will get twice the vertical resolution on playback with the new system which records both frames.

Justin, this doesn't answer your question, but if you are replacing the motherboard, you should not need the drivers for the DVR card unless you are also reloading the operating system which should not generally be required. On the other hand, if you are replacing the hard drive, then I understand that you will need these drivers. Please clarify. If you have taken over maintenance of a set of PC-based DVRs from another firm, they should be handing over to you the original install disks and license keys. Thanks

In my experience, it is not likely that the 3 cables share a ground. The 3 wires likely continue for the whole length very similar to the way they stick out the end, just inside the over-jacket.

As you probably know, AC alternates at 50 or 60 cycles and can bleed over to the video signal. That is why Siamese has the video in an rg59 isolated from power on 18/2. So I guess options are 1. Check whether the TFD-CVSH26AI24 is 12 volt switchable and use 12 volt DC. Some models are switchable. 2. Buy a different 12 volt camera such as the GANZ you mentioned 3. Power the cameras locally. 4. Run a separate 18/2 wire to each of the cameras to carry 24 VAC 5. Buy Siamese cable and tie it to the existing cable and pull it through the ceiling to replace it. Take a look at Milestone Professional software. Do you really need 48 ports POE? Take a look at the Netgear FS726TP. It has 24 10/100 ports and Gig uplink for around $300.
