  1. Solved I got a reply back from Speco and they had me change the NVR setting for the camera channel from Continuous recording to motion recording and set the camera for a motion zone. The camera notifies the NVR that motion occurred and then the emails is sent from the NVR not the camera. Best regards Lou Cetrangelo Saint James, NY
  2. I have a Speco NVR with 8 cameras connected to my home network for two years. It was professionally installed and at the time I figured I could setup motion notification myself at a later date. I now want to be able to have the system email me an alert if there is motion. The system is working fine and set to record continuously, search and live view on my computer and smart phone locally and remotely. I can access the NVR and the cameras to fully configure each through my web browser. It appears that the cameras are not communicating over my local network to send me an email and it also does not send a motion signal to the NVR. The NVR is set to send an email if there is motion on the cameras. The cameras are also set to synchronize the time of day through an internet web site but will slowly go out of sync. The NVR time does synchronize correctly. I have set up a non-secure (no SSL or TSL) email address (GMX.COM) in each of the cameras and my NVR. The NVR will send an email for startup and other NVR events so I know the email works. The log in the Speco cameras shows that it sent an email out when I subject it to motion. I am actually pretty good with computers and networking but I have not been able to get this to work. Last week I called the original installer, who is very good, and he spent a few hours and also could not do it. To be fair they mostly install higher end commercial systems and is not that familiar with the SPECO NVR’s. The way the system is connected is that IP cameras plug into a built in POE ports on the unit and then a separate Ethernet cable plugs from a standard LAN port on the NVR into my internet router. The unit has a static IP address of 192.168.1.27 but here is where I think the problem lies, the cameras have static IP address of 192.168.78.51 through 58. When I try to set them to 192.168.1.5x they will not connect to the NVR and I had to use special software to set them back to the original address. My network is 192,168.1.1 with ip address below 192.168.1.60 set for static addresses. The ports are open and currently I have the NVR’s ip address set to DMZ on the router to be wide open. If it is any help, to access the cameras in my browser it is connection though a port on the NVR with a URL that looks like this: HIKVision Camera: http://192.168.1.27:59052/doc/page/main.asp Speco Camera: http://192.168.1.27:59057/admin.htm Here are the hardware specs (NVR and Speco cameras are updated to latest firmware) NVR Speco N16WNSPM Cameras: HIKVision DS-2CD2512F-1 (quantity 4), Speco model OiD4 (Quantity 4) One final note is the manual shows to setup motion through the NVR. In the manual it shows that the menu item to do this is listed under Device > Site > Audio Source ,Motion Zone, Motion Sensitivity. On my NVR when I connect directly the menu only lists Device > Site > Audio Source. No Motion Zone or Sensitivity. I’m assuming the firmware was updated and now motion alerts are configured only in the camera. The unit is listed as being capable of sending email alerts Best regards Lou Cetrangelo Saint James, NY
