  1. Hi Guys. First post. I am working with a small business to upgrade their already in place surveillance system. Currently they are running 12 CCTV cameras on an off brand 16 channel DVR. I'm going to be adding another 4 cameras, minimum, and replacing the DVR. I need to find a 18+ (24?) channel DVR. I need remote access to be as easy, from any internet connected device, without any type of proprietary software. I'm looking to avoid any type of cloud base. Ideally, I'd like to be able to access the cameras via public ip address and port. I'm not apposed to running software locally, within the company, if needed to spit out the streams. I am using and Easy-N IP camera as a baby monitor in my home, and I love how I can open a port on my firewall, and point it to my camera and from any web browser I can access it via http://[publicip]:[port#]/cam1.htm. It's also easily accessible via IP Cam Viewer for Android/iOS. I believe this is all possible because the camera has a built in server. I'd like have the same ability with a DVR system, either by way of embedded server, or software running internally in the company. The most important thing here is that proprietary software need not be installed on the devices accessing the feeds I'm favoring accessibility over quality. I'd like to stay under $500 for the DVR, if possible. I hope I've explained well enough, and laid out my requirements clearly. I appreciate any suggestions. Thanx!
