  1. Well thans for the input. The DVR i fear would be cumbersome for someone who considers their flip phone space age technology. I do not live with him, and as a stubborn old dutch man, he refuses to learn new things. Trust me, its the epidomy of frustrating. I will purchase the necessary bits, and I will report back with an answer for us all. "It is only through doing that we learn best." -Cwyatt89
  2. Thank you for the quick reply. I have been looking at that particular seller for the past two weeks. Their stuff is made in china, but that is fine enough for me, considering the price and the light use it will see. I wonder if i can bypass a dvr though? I imagine i could, so long as i had a controller connected to the two wires coming from the PTZ, going into the controller itself. Have you had any luck with hdmi converters? is there anything to gain from using one? I was hoping it might clean up the signal a bit, should there be any granuals or fuzz coming across. I tend to follow the rule with cables that the fewer connections along the way, the cleaner the signal. Does this hold true? Thanks Again!
  3. Hey Guys, My father loves nature. I installed for him recently a deer feeding camera in our backyard. I used a simple bullet style camera, a low end $20.00 camera, about 15 ft from where we dump corn and salt/mineral blocks at. Over 10-15 deer come each day to graze and hang out, and my father loves it. He is retired, and it is one of the only gifts he uses everyday. The feeding site is about 100ft from the back of my house, so i trenched siamese bnc cable back the 100ft, and then made a run of about 70 ft from the basement window to his T.V. All he has to do is turn on his t.v., and turn to the correct video source channel, and he is inside, comfortably watching the deer play and hang out. After the winter, the bnc cable became compromised somehow. I checked the camera, and it appears to still be good. However, i do not want to run another length of cable inside conduit piping because of the hassle. Here is what i would like to install: PTZ camera with 20-27x zoom BNC to HDMI adapter controller joystick for next to his recliner. Is this possible to do? I see everyone looks like they are using a dvr....my old man doesn't even know how to switch channels sometimes to turn on his dvd player, so I need simple. I need a reccomended high quality outdoor dome PTZ camera that is under 200.00 with a decent enough zoom to get to the 70ft away feeding area, a simple, no frills controller for the camera, and bypassing a dvr setup. Does anyone have any advice or other options? I really appreciate any help with this seemingly custom setup. Thanks, Cwyatt89
