Mystified

Until recently I had a simple four-camera set-up with a Securix DVR, and I could check on things while away from home with my iPhone. Quality of picture wasn't too good, so I upgraded and bought a Swann 1080p system. The image quality is much improved, and detail is better. However, the set up on a monitor attached to the DVR is appalling. I think it was designed in 1970 on a Commodore. The iPhone app is even worse. With the Securix app, I could rewind, and fast forward (that's what you want to do when you're checking things) This SwannView app lets you watch the image in real time (which you probably don't want to do) and trying to find and isolate events is a complete disaster - no rewind, no fast forward. My question is simple - does anyone know of an iPhone app that will work with Swann DVR and that is actually useful? - and why has Securix not upgraded to produce a decent quality image? If they did, my Swann setup would be on eBay tomorrow!
