    Dahua Smart PSS PC-NVR

Just a follow up. The new SmartPSS v2.00.0 supports PC-NVR main and sub stream recording.

    SUPPORT DAHUA

Thank you very much, that answers my question. I'm recording at 1080 at 6K bit rate

    SUPPORT DAHUA

Hi Topchips, Maybe you can assist me? I'm also located in South Africa and am looking for support on Dahua products. To date I have contacted their on-line support a total of 7 times and have e-mailed every single one of the e-mail addresses provided on their website without a single response. I contacted ELVEY's head office but they couldn't answer my question. If your are part of the local Dahua support please help me, alternatively can you please point me in the right direction? I installed 3x HDCVI recorders (51HCVR7204A, 51HCVR4108HS-S2 & , 51HCVR4116HS-S2) for a client in a very high crime area. These recorders are remotely linked via a WLAN 150Mbps (Ubiquity Airmax M5) outdoor private network that does not have an active internet connection. SMART PSS is used to remotely view and manage the three recorders and all the cameras (in total 24 Dahua cameras). PC-NVR is used to record locally as a security measure in case the DVRs are stolen or damaged. My questions are the following: I) Can PC-NVR be forced to record the 2nd stream instead of the main stream? (Recording 24 cameras at 4000 – 6000 Kbps is too much for the network. Lowering the main stream bit rate at the recorder side is not an option as the highest quality video must still be available if needed). II) How does one view PC-NVR locally recorded data with SMART PLAYER? (PC-NVR saves all its data in the MEDIA folder which can only be accessed from PLAYBACK in SMART PSS while PC-NVR is running. This is possible with GENERAL PSS) III) Both the newer recorders (8CH & 16CH) do not display correctly on GENERAL PSS. It seems as if it runs at 1x frame per second (live view and playback). I suspect this to have something to do with H.264H encoding. Is (H) not supported in GENERAL PSS? They do however display (playback and live view) correctly in SMART PSS.

    Dahua Smart PSS PC-NVR

Thanks for the response, I hope I'm understanding you correctly: Copying to an external storage is not an option as the DVRs are located remotely in the field and one would have to go to the DVDr to do this. Downloading all the data once a day on a quieter time can work but if the DVR is stolen that data will be lost. I need a real time back up solution that can be accessed immediately if needed. I have explored all the options and PC-NVR does exactly what I need it to do. The only issue is the high bandwidth. If there is a way to record the sub or 2nd stream with PC-NVR instead of the mainstream it will do exactly what I want.

I would like to achieve two things: I) A back-Up system. These recorders are all situated in a very high crime area. the risk of them being stolen or damaged is very high. II) I don't want to assign all the bandwidth of the WLAN to just the back-up or off site recording. (This is a private outdoor wireless network 150Mbps without internet connection) Hence why I would like to remotely record in a much lower stream.

For PC-NVR to work it must be added to SMART PSS under "ADD DEVICE" the same as any DVR, HDCVI or NVR is added. To playback video go to "PLAY BACK" and choose the cameras under PC-NVR. the same way one would playback any other video from a device. In the right column right at the top make sure that the source is set to "DEVICE" and not "LOCAL"

    Dahua Smart PSS PC-NVR

Thanks for the response, I got it to work eventually using the steps I posted before. BUT there is one thing I would love to be able to do and that is record remotely in 2nd or sub stream. Will the PSS in the link allow me to do this?

    Dahua Smart PSS PC-NVR

I don't know what FW it is that you may be referring to as this is PC-NVR the software that comes with SMART PSS. And not a NVR recorder. Anyhow, to get PC-NVR to work there are two key elements not mentioned in any tutorial. I) PC-NVR must be added as a device in SMART PSS (the same way you would add any DVR) II) When using PLAYBACK, select the cameras under PC-NVR device (the same way you would any DVR) and select to search on DEVICE and not LOCAL.
  10. Hi, is there anyone here that can maybe assist me with PC-NVR. I have been trying to get it to record locally but to no avail. I can also not find anything other than the simple setup. I have 3x Dahua HDCVI DVRs setup in a local area. they are connected via an outdoor wireless system (Ubiquity AirmaX). All cameras are setup on SMART PSS, are visible and can be accessed and configured remotely. In other words everything works 100%. EXCEPT PC-NVR. I open PC-NVR, add remote devices and cameras, setup disc management to a spare 2TB drive labeled as D:\, Change record plan to record permanently. And that is it, not recording ever happens. I have gone as far as to add PC-NVR as a device in MART PSS and all the cameras assigned to PC-NVR display fine in LIVEVIEW. I can even click on the recorder icon in the displayed video window and it records that specific camera to D:\. But it will not automatically record. What am i doing wrong?

Did you ever get this figured out? I've been trying to get it to work for the past week. either it doesn't record or I can't get it to playback recorded data. I set it up as per https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFvFLkYUhlM but I still can't finds the data to play back.
