  1. Goal: to stream my wireless nest cameras to my hikvision NVR, mobile devices, and have playback ability. Cameras: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M66NWOQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 NVR: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VMNRZS4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I've looked everywhere for a guide and cannot find one. Any help would be greatly appreciated otherwise I fear I will have to just pay the monthly fee for Nest Aware.
  2. Ah good to know about the chinese version. I was reading the reviews but was confused how the seller is "hikvision" but they weren't an authorized seller. I want the english versions. Budget is $500ish. Like if I can get 2 cams that have high resolution, do all the things I listed, and it's $3xx I'll go with that... but if there's something out there with 4 cams for $550 I'd probably go with that instead. Not sure if that makes sense.
  3. Goal: 2 outdoor camera setup 1080pi resolution (want to be able to easily identify face + license plate within 50 ft) watch from my phone with wifi and without having to be on wifi Ability to record 7-14 days worth of footage before it writes over itself I rent my house out via Airbnb so I'm assuming the best place for the NVR is the attic? NVR: I'm assuming this is the best option? I don't have a dedicated computer that would be able to hold the recordings… but would it be cheaper to build a cheap PC/laptop as my recorder? 1- Store Nvr in attic? Gets too hot? 2- What if I want to keep a portion of the video? a. Ex- I see someone break into the house and I want to keep that portion of the video. Do I access the video from NVR via internet and download it or something? Do I plug the NVR into my computer? 3- Does the NVR have to be plugged into a monitor? I will most likely will review incidents off phone, then pull video from the nvr. How would I pull from the NVR? Camera: 1- Motion sensor - I'm worried about lag time. a. Ex- someone breaks in but that run in so you miss their face and when they leave you just see the back of their head. 2- Watch via phone or web browser whenever I want I would just run a cord from NVR to router a. Would this kill bandwidth? b. Or would it kill bandwidth only when I go to view it? i. If so, how do I use the cams via my phone and not kill bandwidth? Cameras I'm planning on buying: Hikvision DS-2CD2042WD-I 4MP https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DIKF4XG/ref=twister_B01DK6APJG?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Reolink 4MP 1440P https://www.amazon.com/Security-Reolink-65-100ft-Detection-RLC-410/dp/B010LH48F4/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1473838607&sr=8-2-fkmr0&keywords=Reo-Link%2B4K CleverLoop https://www.amazon.com/CleverLoop-security-outdoor-Learning-Security/dp/B01CWM4VOO/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&srs=12034488011&ie=UTF8&qid=1473751240&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=cleverloop%2B2%2Boutdoor NVR: (really no clue on which one to buy here... just going with this since I'm likely to get hik vision cameras) Hikvision DS-7608NI-SE/P https://www.amazon.com/Hikvision-DS-7608NI-SE-Channel-Ports-Recorder/dp/B00DVODRJ8
