  1. So, where do you download it?
  2. Which Dahua software should she use? She's got a NR908 NVR with 4K cams.
  3. Hello, I'm trying to help my neighbor who bought a Lorex NR908 NVR package on Black Friday against my advice. As predicted, she hates the Lorex software, but has waited too long to return the system. I'd like to help her use the cams with a third party VMS system like Shinobe or XEOMA. It seems like there should be a way to make the built-in POE switch inside the NVR tallk to her router such that the cams would show up on her network. There is, in fact, a "switch" tab under the networking section of the NVR's firmware. This panel has settings for IP, Subnet mask and default gateway. At the moment, both the IP and gateway settings in this switch panel are set to 10.1.1.1 I wonder if I could simply set the default gateway to the router address and manually assign the NVR switch an IP that's outside the DHCP range that her router is set up to allocate? I suppose there would still be an issue with the DHCP server built into the NVR which, obviously, is the service assigning IPs to the cameras plugged into the NVR's POE switch. If if turn off the NVR's built in DHCP server, does anyone know if a built-in NVR switch will fail over to the gateway to assign IPs in the normal way?
  4. I'd like to know what voltage I should set my POE switch to in order to run this camera. My switch does POE+ which I believe goes up to 30 volts. Given that this system doesn't seem to allow me to post photos, here's exactly what it says on the bottom of the camera: 4K MVF IP Bullet Camera NTSC Model No: LNB8963-C Input: DC 12V/PoE Power Consumption: 650mA / 7.8W PoE: 802.3af It's a Lorex. When the NVR detects it, it says something like "wrong password". I want to attach it to my router and see if I can figure out what's wrong. The five other cams in the set are detected just fine and test well.

No NVR IP cam system design

Hello, I'd like to explore the idea of creating a multi-camera POE IP cam system that relies on storing footage directly on memory cards in each camera rather than using an NVR. This is obviously possible, but I don't quite understand how one would view footage across multiple cameras at the same time. Ideally, I'd be able to buy ONVIF-compatable cameras of different types and from different manufacturers and still have a unified view across all cameras that would allow me to move forward and backward in time, seeing what's happening on each camera for any given moment. I wonder if this is possible without an NVR? Oh, and P2P security for remote access is a must. I don't want to punch holes in my firewall.

    Camera support

Ah. OK. Didn't realize that ONVIF enabled larger resolutions. I thought it was an interoperability standard.

Securame: OK. I was confused by the fact that the manual lists non-Hik cams as compatible. Tomcctv: I was thinking something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Hikvision-DS-2CD2232-I5-12MM-Bullet-Camera/dp/B00IIVG0G6

Ok. So, can you answer either of my questions?

    Camera support

Hello. I've just purchased a Hikvision DS-7208HQHI-SH DVR and I'm trying to determine which cameras it will support. I saw a product page on the Hikvision site here which states that it will handle cameras, either IP or TVI, at resolutions up to 1920 X 1080P But, in the product guide, they include a list of compatible IP cams that has several cams that are at 2048 X 1536. The guide, as you can see from the link above, was published in 2015. Questions: 1) Can anyone confirm the max rez this thing will handle? 2) Any ideas for a cam that will allow me to read license places in relative darkness at about 50 feet? Here's the product guide: http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/image/2015060816102489271.pdf
