    Need help with Q-See QT428

Make sure the dvr is assigned a static IP and upnp is enabled for the router and dvr. If by some stretch the router doesn't support upnp, get the ports from the dvr and forward them manually.

    Compatability Question

Answered my own question. Took a chance on a Dahua unbranded from amazon. The xvr5108 pentabrid so far fits the bill. Same interface and more capable for less than half the cost of a Q-see brand. No problems with the IR cut and it'll take 4 IP cams to boot.

    "Anti-dither" explained

If anti dither is set to 10 any motion in that 10 sec. is one event for the recording time allotted. If after 20 sec. into the recording it detects motion again that's another event and will record for the allotted time. Helpful if you have it setup for alarm or snapshots based on motion. Minimizes the number of events created but shouldn't delay recording.
  4. Did you try the dahuawiki site? That's where all the good stuff is.

    Advice on new DVR

Why not replace the drive? For what it's worth I just replaced a flaky Q-see with a Dahua oem non branded pentabrid from Amazon and so far functionally it's just as good at half the cost ($120 for 8+4 channel).
  6. Only fan my 918 model has is on the processor, nothing for the HDD.
  7. Proper codecs installed? Try exporting to a different format ( native instead of wmv ).
  8. I'm looking for a new DVR that will work with Q-see 720p AHD heritage series ( QCA7207B ) cameras. Anybody know what type of signal these put out? Or better yet how to get the original dvr ( QC918 ) to stop rebooting with HDD errors (3 different drives so it's the dvr) and I won't need a new one.
