  1. Is the FLIR CLOUD app the only app you can use with it for remote viewing? That app's reviews are terrible and recent. Curious, what is your experience related to the Lorex systems?
  2. I agree, the prices look great. However, then I find things like this on the web. https://lorex.pissedconsumer.com/ I appreciate the quick response, but would still like to hear more and from others. Please, folks, keep the posts coming... Thanks..
  3. I need a home system (thinking IP with NVR), 2 cameras to start for sure, with the ability to do 4 for sure, maybe 8 if the cost isn't much more. I always like to leave room for expansion. I'm really out of luck locally, besides this one system (enclosed photo "STORM BY INAXSYS"). The other two pictures are quotes by 123 Security and SCW. I don't know boo about systems, so I'm really at the mercy of every salesman I talk to. I want a decent quality system that will last awhile, give me good pictures, will notify my phone when motion is detected, and cameras that will withstand the cold Wisconsin winters. I think most will, and I'm leaning towards the bullet or turret design, not a dome. Would love more input to help make up my mind. Maybe the local guy, 123 Security, and SCW are all crap. Heck, I just wouldn't know. To be honest, I like the conversations I've had with SCW and their 3 year warranty, lifetime support, but they could be feeding me a line of bull. The local guy was VERY nice, older, seems very honest, but again, is his STORM BY INAXSYS system crap? If I could enclose more than 3 pictures I would have included all the specs, but I couldn't.... Can ANYONE help me with this. Is there maybe another place to shop, route I should go. I would love to get this done soon before it gets hot out and I pass out running the cables in the attic. I would really appreciate anything you can give me related... OH, and someone else suggested this system, but on the surface, it seems too much like a big box item that folks have told me to steer clear off... https://www.lorextechnology.com/hd-ip-security-camera-system/hd-security-camera-system-with-2k-recorder-weatherproof-cameras/LN10802-84W-1-p#overviewSection Again, HELP!
  4. So I could use the Riser cable in theory as long as I don't go in an air duct? It will take the heat in my attic ?
  5. I'm going in the hot attic in our garage and in the soffit for each camera. Does it matter what kind....i.e., Riser, Plenum, STP, UTP, etc.??? Home Depot has both 500' of Plenum and Riser http://www.homedepot.com/b/Electrical-Wire-Voice-Data-Cable/500/N-5yc1vZc5a2Z1z10lzm Would one of these work, or do I need something better? Just want to make sure I have both a good solid connection AND am not going to start any fires, etc.....
  6. Actually, realized that shortly after posting. Instead, I then went to: https://www.123securityproducts.com/hikvision.html/ and had someone spec out a couple of different Hikvision options that should prove to be about the same price. Now, it is a question of HD-TVI vs. IP. What are the pros/cons of each?
  7. I looked up a HikVison IP POE system, 8 channel, 2TB NVR, 4-4MP cameras set with 4-65' cat5e cables (not that 65' will be enough for all cameras) for about $710. Does that seem reasonable? How does it compare to HD-TVI? This is from POE Depot in Chicago, which I found on Amazon, but called them direct and you can get a 2 year warranty for cheaper if you buy direct from them. Where did you find it at? I haven't found any Hikvision systems just separate components. This is what I was referring to on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EYW3XXU/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2MDRZLW4SQNUF&coliid=I2AIQTXUPZWDSH Then I called POE Depot directly to get their pricing and to talk more.

  9. Ironically, I was looking into Hikvision today. IP and POE would limit the need for batteries or power. Is that a good way to go? Then I'm just having to run cat5e to each camera.
  10. Really hoping to find a system that is decent, yet won't break the bank. Basically would like a couple of outdoor cameras that will survive the Wisconsin winters, are motion activated, and will send alerts to my cell phone when they are activated. A small DVR would be good. I think I can do wired, unless there is a very reliable, secure, wireless system. Would like to know where to shop, and will take any advice someone is willing to give. I've been told the systems on Amazon are good, but am skeptical. Also, if anyone is willing to mentor me through this project, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't even know what my budget will get me. I was thinking $600. So, with the DVR, 2 or 3 cameras, but would like a system to handle maybe 6 or 8 cameras. Anyway, I'll start there and see what else is needed from me. Please advise. Thanks!
