  1. One thing I should mention is that I know I will need a poe switch to run other NVR as opposed to the one I currently have that has the built-in POE, I already have a 24port poe switch that I can use so that wouldn't be an extra expense.
  2. Hello all, I currently have a dilemma. I have the DS-7616NI-I2 / 16P and love it, have no issues with it at all. Have 13 IP cams connected and everything works perfectly. The problem is I came across a different NVR this week that a friend is selling for a great price and am considering switching out mine with this one. My main reason would be to have Analog camera capability and the BNC video out as well. That model is DS-9016HQHI-SH the tribrid version with 16tb worth of Hard Drive. One of the questions I do have that I cannot find the answer too is since it has the option for 16ip and 16 analog cameras can I have say 22 cameras total running between both? I know it will depend on resolution, recording frame rate, etc but is it possible?
  3. Hello all, I have a DS-7616NI-I2/16P that is set up to record on Event for all cameras. I have now noticed that ever week or so it reverts back to Continous recording for all channels. This is a new install and I am in the process of adding cameras and at sometimes I did remove all the cameras from the back of the NVR and then plugged them back in, not necessarily in the same ports they were in. Could this be the cause?
  4. Hello all, wanted to see if I can get some opinions on what might be happening. When the IRs come on for this camera I see blurs/ghosting on the right side. My firs thought was that the IRs were bouncing off the side of the clear plastic covers and reflecting back into the lense. So I used one of these extra foam pieces and pit it in front of the front so that the lense is right up against the clear plastic cover but still nothing. My other though is that it is too close to the wall and bouncing off the side wide. As you can see in one of the pictures as soon as the motion lights kick in and the infrareds go off the ghosting is gone.

    Ants?

Thanks prairietech so is there settings I need to change or is it just a problem with the cameras? This is a shot right now and as you can see there are still ants and the IRs are on, I can see them on through the window.
  6. A millions ants moving around is the best that I can describe it. I just installed these cameras today during the day and as soon as night time comes and the IRs turn on the screen appears to have ants crawling around. The first picture is with the porch lights on and as you can see it looks fine. As soon as the lights go off and the IRs come on the ants come out? The shot with the ants is not blown up, I just put my phone closer to the screen so that I can get a better shot. Now this is on a 37" screen and in single camera mode. Does this look like a problem with the cameras or settings? Or is it just that the shot is lower quality and once blown up to 37" the picture will show these ants. Right now it is set to 1920x1080 and the tv is only 720p.
  7. Thanks SSmith for the quick reply. These will be used in home, around the outside. Front Door, Back Door, Garage and perimeter of the house attached to the house. Running Cat6 Burial grade cable and connected to the NVR in the garage. The a HMDI KVM switch will bring the video and controls to the main tv in the house. The cameras will face all 4 sides of the house, so some will be in direct sunlight during the day and some will be kind of shadowed in the back of the house or under the porchs. Hope this info helps.
  8. So I am in the process of choosing a system to install in my home. I have been a CCTV tech for the last year so I am still learning. I am going with a Hikvision NVR and IP cameras since that it seems that is all we have been installing lately and I can get a decent deal on it and know how to work around the menus. I know this is a budget system compared to some of the ones out there but is better than the current system I have (Zmodo). I am down to choosing between 2 cameras and am having a hard time deciding between these two. I can clearly see the differences in the label, 3mp vs 2mp, lower lux on on the 2mp, etc. When I connect them both to a POE and look at them on my computer monitor I can see a difference but am still having a hard time. Here is what I am seeing and look forward to your suggestions and opinions. 3mp cam: Great day time shots, super clear, very good picture when zoomed in. Not as good with the night time shots with infra-reds on. 2mp cam: Better night time clarity than the 3mp camera, but the 3mp has better quality in the day. I guess my main concern is what do I want more? A better shot at night or day? Is the difference really going to be that much that I will notice?
