  1. The only setup I know of that has no central recording device is the Cisco Meraki Security Camera: https://meraki.cisco.com/products/security-cameras The only reason I did not go this route (I am a network engineer and run a full Cisco Meraki network at home) is I really wanted 4k cameras. I ended up with: Lorex system: NVR LNR6083 and 8MP LNB8111BW The NVR is about a noisy as a desktop PC's fan at worst.

    Hello

Finally got around to mounting the camera. Since the house is new construction I wanted to give a finished look, instead of just mounting it to the siding. It is about 11 feet off the ground... I just have the PoE cable to finish running and will be able to post some video of this setup.

    Hello

I have been lurking for some time, doing a ton of reading on home security cameras and learned quite a bit from this site, so thought I would join and share my recent purchase. Anyways I bit the bullet and purchased a Lorex system: NVR LNR6083 and 8MP LNB8111BW. And am quite impressed. Had it up and running in under 30 minutes fully connected to my Cisco Meraki network (I'm a network engineer). No issues getting the Android app working either. I know there are a lot of misgivings about Lorex, and maybe it is the lower end stuff? Anyways, will be mounting the first camera in about 2 weeks and will post a picture of the install and some video.
