  1. I was all set to start buying some Dahua cameras and then found out they were dropping MJPEG support from their firmware. Any reason why in particular? I need MJPEG for some of my home automation stuff. I could have Blue Iris transcribe, but that costs a lot of CPU cycles for a feature that should be standard on the camera. I don't necessarily trust Hikvision given their security lapses.

    Another house setup

About to move into a new house and want to have a security setup to cover the entrances. 1. Is there a guide on where to put cameras? We want outside security and one nanny cam 2. Is there a good camera/NVR setup that is (a) easy to use; (b) has cloud features; and © can integrate with smart home features (work with maybe Abode or other security systems? I have a couple of WiFi Amcrest cameras that I bought not too long ago for our current rental and they seem fairly decent. A lot of people elsewhere are all about Hikvision. I'll be running ethernet wiring directly to the cameras this time so no need for wifi.
