  1. frankf started following which NVR - PoE or non PoE?

    Hi, planning an install of IP system with 4 cams. I'm trying to avoid 4 cables to NVR at the rear of the property, so considering a 4 port PoE switch in the loft and connecting that to the router with a single cat 5 or 6, then connecting the NVR to the router. My query is: can I use a standard 4 port PoE NVR and just ignore the ports, using the LAN to connect to the router OR, do I have to use a non PoE NVR box? Non PoE NVR's seem hard to come by. also, do the cams have to be configured on the system or will the be detected by the NVR? Many thanks for any answers or alternative suggestions. Frankf
