  1. So,,I got it working, but I have no clue what happened and I'm confused on how I did it but here goes.. I had to download to a thumb drive a new version for the dvr. I emailed hikvision for new passwords and got in as administrator, then I installed the new version which gave me their new way of working...hik-connect. Once that option appeared I used that,,,downloaded an app to my phone,,used a qr code thing and after 3 tries and guessing about other things,, I was able to see my cameras. My thoughts on what happened....business may have gotten a little slow for the installer so maybe he bumped me out so I can make a service call and get charged.
  2. Someone at work suggested I reset the DVR. I unplugged it, waited a bit and plugged it back in. Still no connection.
  3. Hi, I have a question about my home camera system. Im not familiar with the connectivity aspect of the system. A guy installed it about 2 (?) years ago and used passwords in the dvr part, so I'm basically locked out of important features...which is a good thing. This is what I have going on: The dvr is a 4 camera Hikvision only using 3 cameras. it is hard wired to my Actiontec mi424wr router. My wife and I use the ivms 4500 on our phones to look at the cameras. She uses an Iphone and I use an android. on the phone ivms device info...I have it set to HiDDNS. I have changed nothing in the phone and nothing in the DVR. I uninstalled the ivms and it came up with an error connecting and only shows 1 camera now. last week we lost internet connection in the house, no wifi for phones, no computer to internet and no x box to internet. I wiggled some wires where the internet comes into the house (fios) and LATER I saw the green light come on the router for internet so I'm not sure what happened. Internet has been back up since. Poking around inside my router trying to see how many connections there are, I saw my friends iphone (we gave him permission to hop on one day). On his device settings i blocked all internet services. his only. I also, rebooted the router, factory defaulted the router, unplugged the router and our phones still cant connect to the dvr. So the only thing that was touched was the router,,,but it was reset back to default (which i have done before) when looking at the phone, the camera says "connection failed". from the router I can test to the dvr and it says it passed and connected. I want to keep the connection the way it was ,,but can anyone figure out why all of a sudden we both cant see the cameras? Thanks
