    Video extender?

I've seen several amps online but not your photo item. Where did you find your amp? Thanks

    Video extender?

I just found in my audio/video stuff, a Radio Shack inline amp that was used 15-20 years ago forbeefing up the TV signal for their flying sauser looking rooftop antennas. It has a 9V transformer power supply and has a in and out coax connections. The antenna is still up on the side of our old house, but we use Dish Network now. Would four of these work?

    Video extender?

I forgot to say, I don't use online remote viewing, just two locations at home, if that makes a difference.
  4. I have 4 video caneras that run a distance of about 250 feet. The signal on all four is great at the PC based DVR system, in my study. I'v set up another PC based system, same software, same everything. When I connect all four with signal splitters in the study, I get a video signal freezing or acting up on both systems. If I disconnect the cameras system in the study, the orginal location, the cameras in the office work great. I believe the signal loss of distance and double duty monitoring is my problem. I've been looking online for a video aplifier, actually I found one that has four in and four out in a single package. It looks like I need a little boost, not a lot, just enough to get me past the extra 100' to the office DVR system. Had anyone used amps to enhance their system?
  5. I forgot to say, I have a PC based system and electric gates. My keypad was hit by lightning 10 years ago and killed it. But that was a good thing because that's when I discovered cctv video. I installed everything I have now for half the cost of replacing the keypad alone. My cameras all run on Baluns with excellent quality. But now I want onw way sound back at the gate or a wired 2 way intercom. I need a good diagram. I can built it if I can find it.
  6. Since then, I have installed three PIR motion sensors totaling 6 90W bulbs and three driveway alerts down the drivway at about 75' apart. The three wireless alerts each give a different sound warning sound inside so we can tell the location of each alert. I have closed the UPS portal in the gates and placed 6 rows of barbwire on each side of the entrance accross the front. We have a neighborhood watch sign, two video camera signs, one on each side, and Bad Dog signs at the gate. 120lb german shepard would have greeted them close to the house. With all that warning they still chose the chance to get shot as they entered any door. My wife has been in a training course with her 357 and I have a CC permit for my Baretta with me at all times. If you think your safe as you read this post, think again.
  7. I currenty have four cctv cameras at my gate entrance and they all work great. Three weeks ago, at 5am as we were getting up to go to New Orleans for the day, four guys were standing under the security light at the gate. We did not notice them because we were in the kitchen making coffee at 5am. We pulled out of the gate at 7:20am and noticed our mailbox was down in the ditch. Since we were leaving I proped up the mailbox against the keypad and we headed for New Orleans. When we returned at 8pm that night, I began playback the security system to see what happened to the mailbox. The recording at 5:00 on the dot, shows a car pulling over to the side of the road and hit the mailbox as they tried to hide the car behind the bushes 30 feet from my gates. The four would be robbers were standing under the light with ski masks covering their faces for three minutes planning their job at 5:03am. The guys came in behind the gates in a place used by UPS to deliver small packages. The so called leader hit the nearest cctv camera with the butt of a shotgun to disable it, but the camera continued to record. Another camera caught the four as they came down the 225' driveway toward the house. My wife turned the house lights on at 5:06am and robbers ran back to their getaway car. We never knew they were there that morning. SO, what I'm looking for is a simple wired intercom system between the gate entrance and the house. I have three unused circuits to the gate. I want to convert the speaker in the keypad to a mic/speaker intercom that I can monitor from the house. The total wired distance will be near 300". I'm having a hard time finding a diagram that will work for me. I would have liked to hear what they were saying just before they tried to breakin our home. The four went next door to us and kicked in the front door of the home. The couple was not home at the time. All and any help to get sound to my security system is needed
  8. I have a cctv system I have been using for years and it's been great, until we had 4 armed guys enter our property behind the entrance gate cameras. They were scared away when they saw lights come on inside the place. We did get good video but I was wondering if I could get better images? The option setting; Dectional Interval seconds. What does that mean as far as the number of clips or photos inside each recording? When I playback each recording slowly there is a gap between each stop frame image. Can I reduce the gap? In the recording on the street, playback shows the car as it moves but there is a gap between frames. I want to improve the recording so I don't have as much distance between the cars position as it travels down the street.
  9. I picked up a Kodicom card and software on line. It set up beautiful and everything seems to work, except the live feed on each camera. I get a still image on the camera so I know it sees what I want it to see. And the record light works great during motion through the camera, but all I see is still the original still image. Any one have an idea on the SETUP I missed? Thanks
  10. I had my Kodicom DVR running on a slower PC, now I'm trying to install it on a faster PC. When I install the DVR card the 1.8 G PC sees a new device but refuses to quit trying to install new device, even after the software is installed. New device found, new device found, new device found. Finally I got the software in but now it's asking for a newer driver than what's on the CD. I've emailed Kodicom yesterday but so far no response yet. Do I need to install the software first or the DVR card first? I have forgotten the method since moving into a new house and reinstalling the setup in a newer faster PC.

Camera will not work on PC based

Both are made of Sony coponents, the ADD said, 60 foot range IR Black and white cameras, with 12 Volts powersupply and the built-in cable has a BNC male connector with 4' long cable. I have a PC based security system myself and I tried his cameras on my DVR connectors but no video. I currently run 4 security cameras on my system without problems. He liked my system so much he's building his own. I'll call him and try to get the cameras model numbers, and post again. thanks
  13. Hi, Please help me help my Nephew. He's bought a new 2.8 gig PC to create a security system from scratch. He bought a 240fps DVR card. Sounds good. He then bought two cameras off EBAY but they will not work on his PC. I told him to try the cameras on his TV set, and they both work. How do you select cameras that will work on PC based security systems, or are there cameras that will work on both, PC and TV? What is the camera key to look at for PC use. Thanks in advance for the help.

    24V AC in Coxial CCTV

Hey Guys, I have a small PC based security system with 4 cameras that works great. One camera was hit by lightning and died. My wife found a Panasonic WV-71 TV Camera on EBAY just as the auction was ending and bid on it and won the auction. Then she told me she bought a replacement camera that night. The Panasonic WV-71 TV Camera is powered by 24 Volts AC powered through the BNC Coxial connection. My PC based PC system cannot handle that. It there a 24V AC coxial power adapter? Or do I just need to put this camera back on EBAY to sell myself? Thanks
  15. Hi, One camera at a time works great! Each camera location sends great video, the problem is If I select to view more than one camera, say in a quad screen, all the cameras video images will freeze in three seconds. If I go back and select one camera only, either Camera 1,2 or 3 and view only one camera at a time, the video is great even in quad screen as long as only one camera is selected. The Video card than came with the Compaq has 32 meg. The system memory is 256, and the system is a 933 mhz. The minimum system requirements said 500 mhz, 8 meg video and 128 ram. I'm running double the minimum. I expected at least two cameras running at the same time. I have another Video card unused new in it's box. A Diamond Stealth III S540 pci card with 32meg. I was going to try that if all else fails. The video card now installed is a AGP Nvidia Riva tnt2 Pro 32 meg. Is one better than the other? Thanks
