    GUEST VIEWING

I am a little confused by the animosity toward Larry, who as far as I can tell, bears the financial responsibilty for the site. Also, other than DataAve, how many have offered to work on the maintenance of the site, finding advertisers, etc. It seems there are two separate issues. 1) Who can view forum discussions. 2) Who can view member information. Why can't it be set up so that the forum is still public, but the member info (except for screen name) is private. I know this is possible because it is exactly what eBay does. You can browse eBay all day long, but to view info about members or to bid, you must join. Seems to me you could have the best of both worlds. My final comment is this. The majority is not always right. If you are a Bible believer, this point is easily proven. But, even if not, look at issues in America such as slavery and women's rights. For many years the majority held the wrong opinions. My point is that the argument should not be based on how many people think it is right, but the validity of the arguments.

    GEO 800-16 - Wanna swap v7 for v6?

OK. Perhaps if we were willing to swap for some slightly used GEO 800-16 cards? Anybody?

    Can someone help.

  4. We have 3 brand new, in the box, never been used GeoVision 800-16 DVR Cards. However, they are the version 7 compatible (no dongle-required) version and are slightly longer than the cards which shipped with version 6. Unfortunately, the cable connector on the back of these cards makes them too long to fit in the systems we have available. We are hoping to find someone who has 3 new GeoVision 800-16 cards that are the shorter, version 6 compatible cards. We would be interested in doing an even swap. Anyone who might be interested and has the cards to swap, please PM me. Thanks.
  5. I would think the key would be whether the remote viewer is truly browser based or is a Windows program. I am an avid Mac user and am not aware of any website/webpage that I cannot view on my Mac. The only possible exception I can think of is if a web page is dependent on some Active X control. To the best of my knowledge there is not a way to run Active X controls in a Mac OS (other than Virtual PC, of course).
  6. I don't think so. I didn't set the systems up. They are "Rocket" drives, which I am almost certain are not Western Digital.
  7. No. But I am guessing from your question that we should have. Should the GV Program be on the OS partition or the storage partition or can you even define the location of the video storage to be on a separate partition from the GV Software?
  8. Recently our system with four cameras attached to a GeoVision 800-16 running version 6 software began crashing. We first did a Win2000 repair process, but it ran for less than a day. We thought the hard drive had cratered, but after disconnecting all cables and then reconnecting, the system once again booted up with no problems. I did chkdsk and found no problems. However, when I pulled up Windows Defrag, the drive was almost fully fragmented. The disk is 250GB and it was about 75% full. I don't remember the exact fragmentation percentage, but it had to be close to 75%, if not higher. Has anyone else experienced this problem with GV DVRs and/or is it common to other DVRs as well? If so, how have you resolved or worked through this issue? Thanks.

    Win XP or 2000 Pro?

Are there some cards that will run in Mac OS X? Which also brings up are there some Linux based cards?

    Enclosure for bullet camera?

In all honesty, if I knew the reason it would make it easier. All he said was, "check it out."

    Enclosure for bullet camera?

Thanks. I was also instructed not to use the housings with infrared cameras because the IR would reflect off the glass. Is this correct?

    Enclosure for bullet camera?

Because my boss told me to check on it. I had the same basic answer for him, but he still wanted to me to see what the options were.

    Enclosure for bullet camera?

Hmmmm.....does lack of respons mean everyone is laughing their heads of because this was somehow a bad question? I know it has been less than 24 hours, but this forum is usually so quick to respond it gets you spoiled to expect the unexpectable.
  14. What type of enclosure would you recommend for bullet cameras mounted on the side of a building? Keep in mind in your suggestions that we are only spending about $125 for the bullet cameras themselves.

    Extreme Reg-L

Hey, rory. Thanks for the pics. I have a few questions since were are looking at a couple of low/no light applications Who carries these cameras in the US? Are they way expensive? Since it is a security booth, I am guessing there is at least some light here or is it completely dark? The only IR camera we tried (yes, a cheap one) did great in minimal light, but in total darkness didn't do very well at all. Thanks, Dan
