First time user.

AVTECH 761, camera 1 installed.
Router = LINKSYS WRT54G (just Plugged and Played)
Internet Access = CABLE MODEM/COMCAST
DynDNS account already setup = connectswfl (dot) dyndns (dot) org
DVR settings = default (starting point)

I was able to access the DVR thru the LAN with 192.168.1.10 then when I started to setup DHCP in the DVR, once I changed from Static to DHCP in System Config/Network/IP Type using AP software, AP software lost connection and I was not able to log back in. I checked the DVR under Menu/Advanced/Network/DHCP and the IP changed to 192.168.1.101 I tried it and it worked.
I enabled and added the DDNS information under System Config/Network/DDNS. I tried to access the DVR using the domain, it didn't work. If I use 192.168.1.101 I'm still able to access the DVR.
By the way, the DVR shows IP = 192.168.1.101 and Gateway = 192.168.1.1 but AP software shows Server IP = 192.168.1.10 and Gateway = 192.168.1.65

I guess I'm missing steps, I'd appreciate any help.

hi
your DVR is set corectly ?
first set your DVR with default setings
second, check iour LAN IP classes Ex 192.168.1.X
your router must have LAN IP 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254
set your DVR IP 192.168.1.10 (default), GW 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254
same your router LAN IP
and SM 255.255.255.0

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

DVR settings were default
IP = 198.162.1.10
Gateway = 198.162.1.1
Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0
after I changed Static for DHCP, settings changed to
IP = 198.162.1.101
Gateway = 198.162.1.1
Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0
I can still access my DVR in LAN using 192.168.1.101 even with Video Server E, but I cannot access it over the internet.
In the other hand, when I use the remote control to see the settings directly from the DVR, the settings are different than the ones I can see thru Video Server, Video Server shows
IP = 198.162.1.10
Gateway = 198.162.1.65
Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0
I tried to change them but I can't.

QUESTION: Why is there always enough time to go back and fix it right a second time??

After many hours pulling my hair I can see my DVR on my LAN using the dyndns account. Video Server E pulls my IP address in the screen when it connects. Now ... am I online?

Could anybody check? ... please ...

connectswfl (dot) dyndns (dot) org

I logged in about 2:35am(michigan DST). Looks good, I was receiving about 4fps. Don't know enough to be able to tell you anymore. Good luck.

Thank you very much to all of you!

It's my first experience in a forum (believe it or not). It was great!

Scorpion, those links are awesome material! Thank you, they answered most of my questions.

I'll be asking for help again ... for sure ...
