is there any solution out there that will allow me to use a US state issued ID instead of prox cards? ( i know the state ID doesn't have the chip in it but want to scan each one of them in the magstripe.)

We are doing something similar for a customer who already has mag stripe info We use KEYSCAN and they will write a custom program for you that will capture the mag info in the format the card uses you will have to submit some samples so they can check the format. However this is not a recommended solution. RFID from the start is much more secure and you eliminate the problem of lost cards. If I lose my State issued ID I can get another one but it will be the same as my old one. NOw there are two IDs that open doors etc. With RFID lost card = new number delete old. Mag readers are also a maint issue when used outdoors. PM me if you want for all problems we had using and ID issued for other reasons. Crying or Very sad
