Post subject: Cameras for a Restaurant ?
|
Hi,
Me and my friend are putting a 4 Camera System in his restaurant. The 4 will be montioring his back kitchen door, front door, bar area, and another door.
The problem is the light will be dimmed at night. Would a IR camera be good for this situation?

Depends on the amount of lighting available when the lights are dimmed.
If you will be able to see comfortably with lights dimmed then I will go with a high res low light camera.

Not much honestly. Think of a low light dining area.
I also have a stupid question. Does a IR Camera actually shine line out of the camera?

A IR camera may or may not show a faint visible red glow, depending on its specifications.
Its often higher end stuff that it totally covert, many IR cams use around 800 to 850 (or thereabouts of the top of my head) nm LED's, which show a faint red glow. LEDS in the 950 ish area are totally covert, and invisible to the human eye (and many cameras, unless they have a CCD that can see in that wavelength)

A high res camera would be my best option then? I'm open to suggestions.
