Bingo!

You guessed right! AVTech is the manufacture, but who ever goes to Taiwan, and buys in bulk, and pays a fee can have the product privately branded!

Yes, they have the exact same qualities, and flaws.

CPCam is the "sales" arm of AVTech. They are actually competing with their own "customers"!

This is why you will find CPCam products to be a little more than AVTech products.

These are all the low level 4 channel DVRS

RT4, RT4CD
CP 501, CPD 502, CPD 502A, CPD 560, CPD 561
NUBIX 4BC, NUBIX 4LT
DVR 8004, DVR 8614
GS1800
DVR 4017N, DVR RT4
DVQ2, DVQ2USB

http://scorpiontheater.com/cpcamtechsupport.aspx

This page has most of the distributor names, and model numbers.
There is info on the different four channel DVRs and what model numbers they are.

The AVTech AVC 760, CPCam 560, and the Nubix 4BC is a model 3. This is the only one that cannot be backed up with a USB, it has to be backed up by the remote software.
Model 3 does not have the USB feature. Models 1,2, 4, and 5 do.
http://211.75.84.102/web/manu/760.pdf

AVC 761, and the CPD 561 is a model 4 MJPEG at frame, MPEG4 at CIF, 1 audio in, with IR.
http://211.75.84.102/web/manu/761.pdf

AVC 781, and CPD 501 is a model 2 MPEG4 at frame, MPEG4 at CIF, 2 audio in, no IR.

http://211.75.84.102/web/manu/781.pdf

AVC 782A, and CPD 502 is a model 1 MPEG4 at frame. Model 1 is the only one
with the CD back up, and it has 2 audio inputs.
Model 5 does not have the power/data bus, but it has 2 audio inputs, CD back
up, and it has IR.
http://211.75.84.102/web/manu/782.pdf

A/V Support:

Support 2 audio-in, 1 audio-out to record sounds (Model 1 and Model 2)
Support 1 audio-in, 1 audio-out to record sounds (Model 3 and Model 4)
Support VGA output to monitor (optional)

General:

Model 1, 2 and 4 support multi-language OSD
Model 4 support IR remote control
System auto recovery after power reconnected
Support daylight saving function
Support manual / timer / motion / alarm / network remote recording functions
Watermark function ensures authentication of recorded images
Support TCP/IP, PPPOE, DHCP and DDNS network connection

thanks for the info scorpion. i'm still in my search for a dvr. finally got my stimulus refund. so i thought i'd stimulate my electronics collection with a new dvr! lol, thanks uncle sam. but i'm still having problems finding what i need-i'm looking for a dvr {standalone} in the $1,300 price range. 8 channels minimum. must have the ability to send motion detected images to email account and must be embedded in dvr, not done with software on pc. dual codec preferred.
i've gotten email responses from several online stores, but most of em were cpcam or avtech. i'm just nuts about buying things online. i'll research for another month probably, looking for the best my money can get. i have a dvr for my tv . i read posts for months on videohelp.com before i finally chose the one i have now.
thanks again for the info. peace

CPCam "is" AVT...

The CPC product is what AVT sell to installers and end users and also what they use as an excuse to bypass distribution agreements.
To be honest there is much better hardware out there... even at the same or better price points.
e.g. the manufacturer that Q-See uses for their DVR kits is very good for the low end dvr's (like AVT's new lower cost DVR... forget model no)
Avermedia's 1304NET is a worthy competitor to the 760 and AVT can't compete at any higher levels as they are lagging behind in R&D as noted in my signature.

Hey Scorp,
I've been flat stick for the last few months... had some major projects to do and also went to various trade shows and factories in Taipei, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Hangzhou.

Hmm.. How can you compare Avermedia's 1340Net to AVC760 ?
It's not an apple to apple comparision. I can get 2 x AVC760 for the price of 1 x 1340Net (and have some spare change to take a cab back). It's like comparing a BMW to a Toyota. Price ranges different, you get different product and feature.
