Hi, Got a avtech 787 dvr. I have purchased a remote control for it and the eye. I can view individual cameas etc using the buttons 1,2,3 etc but i can't access the menu when pressing menu button and can't search recorded video using the search button. if i press the menu button on the front of the dvr the menu comes up then if i press the menu button on the remote control the menu goes away so i know the dvr is receiving the signal from the remote( this is the same with the search button) i can also fast forward and pause using the remote once i have got the menu up using the front panel but the play button doesn't work on the remote. I do have the correct remote i checked on the web site(avc910td) any ideas??

If you are using motion detection then try this.

Press the stop button then press the menu button.

There may be a "timing" issue that you will have to practise to get the hand / eye coordination just right.

In other words it may be to busy looking for motion in the cameras that it is ignoring your request for menu.

At least give it a try, and lets see what happens.

I have to do this manually with the buttons on the DVR sometimes for the above reason.

Sometimes I have to do the same with Video Server E (or S).

What do you think?

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have tried stopping all recrordings and doing the same but it still doesn't work. the same buttons don't work but again if i bring up the menu with the buttons on the dvr then pressing menu on remote it takes the menu away? Could the DVR be in some kind of protected mode to stop someone changing settings via remote? Is it worth a reset, if so how? also power button doesn't work either.
Thanks

Stopping recording does not work. Is this with the remote only, or is this on the DVR buttons as well?

If it is with the remote only then I do not know what to tell you. You have confirmed that the remote does in fact work, and you have confirmed that the "eyes" on the DVR see the IR commands.

I cannot tell you why your remote does not work.

This is the first post that I have ever read in regards to this problem so this is very unique.

It may be that the remote is the one millionth one of the line, and that is the .0001% failure tolerence object. It may have received a bad command while the chip was being programmed, or perhaps the software in the DVR is corrupt. A firmware will not fix this problem that I am aware of.

You may have to test the remote on another DVR to confirm that the Remote is ok. Is there a CCTV showroom near you that you can test it on?

If you were having problems shutting off the recording on the DVR panel then that may be that you have to place a password in to it to stop it.

It would not hurt to do a hardware reset. Give it a try!

I really do not know what to tell you!

I am sorry that I cannot be of more help!

Hi, thanks for your help i performed the hard reset as per your instructions and it is now working correctly!!! The remote seems to work alot faster now as well. I do not have to press the button twice as you have experienced either due to motion detection. before it was a bit sluggish. Once again very greatfull for your help.
