Do you have a recycling facility near you?

it might be simpler to find a dead horse and start flogging it...

it could be hard drive issue too, turn off DVR, then open the case then unplug the hard drive then try to turn it on.

That thing should still be under warranty, that model hasn't been out that long yet, when and where did you buy it?

Do you know how to flash that DVR? if disconnecting the HD doesn't work i'll give you further instructions.

Well if you got it from direct from China I'm not sure if my instructions would help...assuming you already know which are the flash files and have the correct version, try this:

1. Empty and format your USB key

2. put the flash files into the USB without any folders

3. turn off machine

4. plug USB in (try the front and the back, sometimes USB port might be bad)

5. turn on the machine

6. if you get a black screen and if the USB drive is flashing like crazy, it means the firmware is working.

7. wait 15 mins, the machine should reboot and you can login like normal if it worked.

I'll PM you with a download link to get the flash files/firmware

Then its 95% dead (unless you have wrong flash files), apply for replacement/repair, they will have to change motherboard for you most likely and keep the same case.

sorry it didn't work.

and don't feel bad about it, its not your fault for bricking it. it happens VERYYYY OFTEN to this vendor's machines, you are not the first and won't be the last.

No thanks

I'll find a solution

I realized that you did not come to help

If the seller will help you, DONT touch it until he returns or you'll destroy any chance of fixing it, Be patient....

I was trying to save you frustration and upset. A REALITY CHECK....!

I am being REALISTIC. Sorry if it sounds like I am being unkind, I didn't ask you to attempt a re-flash after owning the device only 2 weeks...and I didn't ask you to buy a poor quality DVR. If there was any good news I would be happy to offer advice but as the other guy said it's a new motherboard or a new DVR. I have years of experience and even I only reflash firmware as a LAST resort. What makes you so much more skilled?

Buy a brand that is properly supported, has downloads on the manufacturer's website then you'll be okay.

Buy it from a dealer and they can support you. There is a reason they are more expensive than those ebay jokers.

I am guessing that you are one of those stubborn people that REFUSE to take advice that they don't like.....too bad!

Hope things work out but you won't fix it unless you're VERY VERY lucky and frankly I wouldn't hold your breath waiting

Happy ending

The DVR works great

After I contacted the seller

He sent me a RS232 SERIAL Board for the DVR

I connected the PC to the DVR

And updated the FLASH files

And within seconds everything came up again

What I want to say

Never Give Up Never

It may be that what you have learned that you could benefit others and by posting it on here with the firmware file. At some time in the future someone may have the same issue and this would help them out, That s what the forum is all about sharing knowledge.

The problem is those RS232 serial boards most vendors don't have it to send to the customer, usually customer will send the machine then the RMA dept will flash the firmware that way, and if it doesn't work then will replace motherboard.

Its a machine by TVT by the way.

Most end users/end installers will have to use USB drive, load the kernel then flash it (which should work most of the time...).
