Lorex Technology LNR366

Recommended Posts

Hopefully someone can help me out. i'm looking at doing a home security system. would like to be able to view remotely over the internet as well as monitor at home. the thought of going wireless really sounded like a great idea and picked up 3 foscam units. needless to say i havent been impressed so looking at a wired system with DVR. probably only need 8 cameras 4 for inside and 4 for outside. with that being said i was looking at the lorex system that will do 12 cameras so i can add on if i see the need. my distance run can very depending on how i'm having to run wire so there might be spots i'll be running cable 200ft give or take. With IP camera over cat5 or cat 6 i believe i can run up to 100 meters? i was looking at the system below but wanted to get some opinions of others before i make another big mistake like the foscam units i have.

That system looks like an 8ch NVR with an add on of another 8.

Ive been eying this one here for a while. Hope someone can give feedback. The few reviews I read are promising.

I believe the bullets that come up in this search result for hikvision 3mp are the same as the above cameras.

Just giving a heads up.

According to some of the reviews, only 8 of the 16 ethernet ports are powered (POE). The rest are just LAN ports. So if you want to add additional cameras, you also have to run power to them.

Its a 16ch NVR..with 8 built in poe ports and a poe switch that can power 8 additional cameras...the benefit of not having all the lan ports on the nvr is that you can place this switch anywhere in the install and run a single cable back to the NVR-or a network connection..

The same system with 9 cameras is available here http://www.costco.com/Lorex-16-Channel-HD-NVR-Security-System-with-3TB-HDD-and-9-1080p-Cameras.product.100153135.html

Costco has the ultimate return policy...

Boogie man, I do t have a dog in the fight. But based on the product descriptions alone, you are confusing the swann with the lorex system.

The Swann quoted here doesn't have a switch included.

The lorex you link to later in the thread does.

I will warn any potential buyer. The swann claims 45days of continuous recording on 16cams at 1080p. I call bull****. You'd be damn lucky to get that out of d1. And we all know that 1080p files are exponentially larger than d1 files.

Everything I have read about this system has been very positive. Make sure to surf the web for the best price. All websites get the system directly from Lorex. Price ranges from $4000.00 to $2675.00.
