IP Cameras setup tools

Recommended Posts

We have a small setup camera that we use for setting up coax cameras; kind of looks like a periscope. You can connect coax between the camera and device and view what the camera will be recording.

Now that we are finally moving towards IP cameras, we are looking for a similar device. Is anyone out there using some kind of small hand held video device that will connect to the camera so that you can view what will be recorded. I'm assuming it would have to be battery powered so that it can provide power to the POE IP camera.

I have contacted Axis and Pelco so far and neither of them have tools that work. I would rather not have to have a device like the Veractiy Pinpoint and use a laptop/tablet device because I'm worried about dropping the device. That being said, if someone here doesn't have an ideas, I will be looking at using this device along with a small hand held video device with an USB to ethernet adapter.

veracity do a portable poe supply which allows you to power camera locally and set up with a laptop etc., they may have a solution including a test monitor kit for IP. maybe worth a phone call.
