about low fidelity of IPC

how do you manage low-fidelity issue when using IPC at long distance? I heard companies talking how good their IPC is but rarely mentioning image fidelity. is this a commonly accepted default?

IPC is not related to distance, at all. If so claimed, then IPC is invented to overcome distance issue,as there were not ways invented to send Mega Pixel Raw Video Data from Camera to the DVR where viewing and storing is done. IPC sends the compressed video data over network cable, which become so cheap and managible technically, easy for small data sizes in stead of huge raw uncompressed raw video data.

 

Thanks for raising the question. I have to tell you that 1.3 Mega Pixel could be the best resolution worth of your dollar, as of now. Many peddlers do recommend 2 Mega Pixel / 3Mega Pixel/4 Mega Pixel IP cameras. They are using the same image sensor as 1 Mega Pixel. They simply increased pixel counts, not pixel resolution, in deed. But they can charge more money than when they honestly confess that they are using the same sensor as 1 Mega Pixel.

Where's the proof?

1. Ask Micron(Optina) CMOS image sensor engineer. 2 Check out the camera spec of MicroSoft's smart phone, which is bold and challenging. If they claim 15 Million Pixels as state of art, in terms of video, only 15 Video Frames of 1 MP resolution per second. They are not close 30FPS or 60 MPS of 720P, yet.

Smart phones shoots for 2 Billion pieces. CCTV, at most, shoots for 100 Million pieces. Image sensor was not born for CCTV industry. Do not be confused. If you are CEO and R&D chief, are you going for number one image sensor supplier for such a small IP camera industry? Be real and let's be honest.
