Hard Drive Error

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I have an I-Pro CCTV system fitted by a professional around 4 years back. Recently I am receiving a HDD Error message on the DVR and a wirring noise. I work in IT so know my way around computers a little and therefore assumed the noise was from the HDD and replaced it. However the noise was still present and a few days later I saw a HDD error pop up again saying SATA 1-5 HDD Error. I then Isolated the noise coming from the cooling fan but I am now wondering is it worth investing in a new DVR?

I don't think the new HDD has failed as well? I got the HDD from Fleabay and it's suitable for DVRs as per the advertisement. It's a 1TB Western Digital.

Thanks

You work in IT and buy hard drives from fleabay.

your cooling fan might of failed and drive has over heated and made that fail

But buying drives of eBay you are only buying another problem.

Replace fan and new HD and you might be good for another 4 years

Hi, Thanks for your response. This is a tried and tested supplier I've used in the past but will get another drive. Do you know the standard sizes of the fans for these boxes or will each one be unique?
