Pan and Tilt

Hello,

I have an old style Pan and Tilt unit 24V made in Korea.

Does anyone know how to hook this unit up?

I am using a RS485 relay unit but I cannot get the Pan and Tilt motor to move.

The schematic is in the attached file any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, where the Pan and Tilts are going to be installed regulation is not a big deal.

 

 

Low and high voltage is a big deal...... that’s why we have regulations...... you can’t go 220v control and have rs485

 

You will need a manchester box to control the head you have listed

So is the control 220V and not 24V?

The RS485 is just a RS485 Relay block with NO and NC contacts.

Also, what is a Manchester box?

Hi. Your first post says your tech support

 

RS485 is just a relay box ??? No relays used it’s a digital signal

 

Your head does not even have RS485 and is listed as 220v only

 

Again it’s too old and not to regulation

 

It can be done with a control box (Manchester box) but the cost makes no sense when you can buy a ptz cheaper

The relay did not come with the pan and tilt it is just a RS485 controler relay with 8 NO and NC cotacts. I am trying to use this to control the pan and tilt. This Pan and Tilt is for a special application and I have no idea what my customer is using it for but I need to make it work. The unit is supposed to be 24V the 220v side goes to the camera cable. Where do I get a manchester box?

You can also say no to a customer ...... why do something that is no longer allowed...... that’s the point in electrical code.

 

For a tech guy ..... is it not simpler and better business practice to just buy a new head unit.... something with rs485 and be able to use hd or analog camera instead of using old 220v analog cameras

 

How will you control the head and camera ...... dvr or pc or controller.

The customer already has the Pan and Tilt heads.

They are using a controller to control them.

 

 

You must be new to tech support

 

Again head unit you listed CAN NOT be rs485 controlled without control box ..... 220v is none compliant anymore on head units

 

And like already said it’s cheaper to go new ptz than to buy a manchester box or control box ...... and your also going to get stuck when it comes to the protocol

The control part is not a big deal I can build that.

I just need to know what voltage to apply to the preset

and the left, right, up,down control to make it move.

Yes your new ..... it tells you the voltage in the diagram 220v

And you can’t control that with rs485 that head is too old for rs485

It does not even have the hardware for rs485 it’s too old

 

Link power for camera to be attached is also 220v which is not used no more and hasn’t for over 10 years.

 

Your tech support for a company that started back in 2005

Why is it so hard to understand that head is too old and does not conform

I do not need the 220VAC terminals for the camera.

What do you mean by conform?

Are you talking about the NEC?

Wow you just don’t give up do you ...... look at pan and tilt it says 220v. Also ptz head supples camera voltage which as you have seen from your spec is also 220v

 

Low and high voltage together is not spec now as heads now are either 12v or 24v and has common protocols and rs485 and you can pic them up for $40 - $50

 

That head is too old ...... any tech guy with any sense will buy a new head instead of looking at spending on manchester box or vcl control unit

I think I have my issue figured out.

The Pan and Tilt motors are 24VDC and they do work with 24VDC.

The 220VAC is just labled wrong on the drawing.

I did have to take the Pan and Tilt apart and look at the motors before realizing what the issue was.

This drawing seems to be an old drawing.

You mean posted wrong drawing ..... you still can’t do rs485 on the drawing you sent
