Friends home DVR hacked. Can i find out their IP???

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My friends home security DVR has been compromised via the internet and the settings were constantly being deleted for the cameras. The ports open are 6200 to allow for remote viewing via a web browser so I assume this is how they have made connection. He has changed the DVR password now.

My question is, "Do the DVR logs capture the IP address's of anyone logging in from the internet and does it log the IP address's for any changes made to the system? for instance it logs the IP for changing the camera zone. The unit was £500 not inc cams so pretty decent.

I will find out more info at the weekend, just wanted to help him that's all.

Kindly appreciate any advise/help

Lee

Thanks for your reply,

Does this also include logging the IP address for any changes made to any settings?

Thanks

Check the router log instead of Dvr and look at your Dvr port in the router log it should show a date the Dvr was accessed through the port

Hi,

It`s hard to get the info if no packet capturing at that time.

You could get a safer router next time as you know that it is hacked through WAN.

Hope this kind of things never occur.
