Just can't figure out remote viewing....

At a loss here and apologize for the long read. Tried to give as much detail as possible.

I am trying to set up my DVR to view remotely. I do not have a static IP so I am using a DNS service (dyndns). The DVR is a Zmodo (model# ZMD-DC-SBN6) and the router is a SmartRG (model# SR350N, "powered by Clear Access").

Setup:

So far I have setup the DVR with no issues and am using default ports except for one where I changed port 80 to 85 (strictly to experiment as I thought there was a conflict once I started seeing the Clear Access login page and have no issues changing it back to 80). I have checked the ports, they are all open and I am able to access the DVR through lan (with local IP) with no issues what-so-ever as well. However, when I try and use the DNS address or my IP address, it takes me to the Clear Access login/setup page (speaking of which: for some reason my router will have two setup pages. One of them is through the default 192.168 etc IP which takes me to a ClearAccess login which I have mentioned above, and the other is 192..etc../admin . I use the latter and am able to run the set-up through there) As I said, when I use the DNS address, I am brought to a ClearAccess login. When I add the port number to it, I get the "page can not be displayed" message and it's the same thing when I use the (WAN?) IP address.

On my router, I have set up the following:

Through the 192.168..../admin page I went to Advanced Setup>NAT>Virtual servers* >This is where I added the ports for DVR with TCP and UDP and matching IP with the DVR.

Then in the same Advanced Setup>NAT>Port Triggering** >I did the same thing for the ports. TCP and UDP.

After digging through the net, I went further and, again, in Advanced Setup>NAT>DMZ Host I entered my DVR IP address (experimented with adding the port at the end but the router told me it is not a valid IPso I got rid of the ":85" which brought no change either way.

I also think I have set up my DNS properly.

In Advanced Setup>DNS>Dynamic DNS> I have entering my credentials for the DNS server.

Was digging all over but can not, for the life of me, figure out why I am sent to the clear access front page and why I can not get to my router.....I am typically good with computers and ok-ish in networking and can use the search but the solution to this, for some reason, escapes me. I am sure I missing something with the router as I assume that since the DNS address takes me to the router page, it must be set up right and I did not setup the port forward correctly.....but where....

Would greatly appreciate any help, advice or direction.

EDIT: Just tried disabling the firewall on my router and unfortunately that did not help.

Virtual Server allows you to direct incoming traffic from WAN side (identified by Protocol and External port) to the Internal server with private IP address on the LAN side. The Internal port is required only if the external port needs to be converted to a different port number used by the server on the LAN side. A maximum 32 entries can be configured

**Port triggering has the following description:

Some applications require that specific ports in the Router's firewall be opened for access by the remote parties. Port Trigger dynamically opens up the 'Open Ports' in the firewall when an application on the LAN initiates a TCP/UDP connection to a remote party using the 'Triggering Ports'. The Router allows the remote party from the WAN side to establish new connections back to the application on the LAN side using the 'Open Ports'. A maximum 32 entries can be configured.

Do you have public IP on WAN port?

hi jimmy, thank yo for the reply....don't want to look stupid but can you explain? Not sure what you mean.

I do have a public IP (at least I think I do. It is the IP that I can get off of sites like yougetsignal for example, if that's what you meant)

Static IP doesn't have to be public IP. Please check your WAN port and addresses there.
