Cisco SG300-52MP or Hikvision 7716 NVR for physical link

Recommended Posts

As title says: I have a choice between Cisco SG300-52MP L3 switch and Hikvision 7716 NVR to configure and physically connect ports to Hikvision cameras. Since I am coming from IT background I am strongly leaning towards using Cisco SG300-52MP to use as physical link to IP cameras. I will configure SG300 to have a dedicated VLAN with its own subnet for cameras. In addition to SG300 dominance vs Hikvision 7716 in networking, I feel much more comfortable with Cisco NBD advanced replacement in case switch goes bad vs dealing with HikVision or its distributers

What are the recommendations for this scenario? residential install, 8 Hikvision IP cameras, longest run is 150-170 ft.

Existing network:

main VLAN is VLAN1 with 10.5.15.0/24 subnet.

Cisco SG300-52MP VLAN1 IP is 10.5.15.9

Hikvision NVR 7716 LAN1 static IP is 10.5.15.39

Hikvision internal IP (for POE ports 192.168.254.xx) 192.168.254.1

DHCP 10.5.15.30, 10.5.15.31

DNS 10.5.15.30, 10.5.15.31

Gateway Cisco ASA-5505 VLAN1 10.5.15.1

Proposed CCTV VLAN is VLAN2 with 10.5.16.0/24 subnet.

What is the preferred network configuration including VLAN restrictions, routes, physical connections, etc?

Thank you.
