we dont have that kind of lightning down here, so cant answer that, but someone in the US should know with that low lightning they get there ..

Is the lightning hitting the camera housing? What type of cameras are they? I would imagin ground the housing to something like a lighting pole?

if rain causes problems then your ptz control wires are getting moisture in them? can you run a new control wire? are the ptz connections weatherized?

lighting...best protection is to make sure you don't install the camera or wire runs where it is volunerable to lighting. i just replaced a system that used 12ft. pipes between buildings for the cable runs (truck had to pass under them) which turned out to be the best lighting rods ever built. camera's got killed within 2 weeks.

surge protection works on the dvr but if the camera or pole, building, ect. get hit the damage is unpredictable.

how is your equipment defective? whats not working and did you take the lighting protection out of the cabling to check the difference?

On the DVR side then?

Make sure to use a Voltage Regulator for sure, Surge Protectors are useless against Voltage Spikes, that may have been the issue, when power dipped, then came back on. This happens here on a daily basis, without a voltage regulator down here, your equipment doesnt last long.

i'm used Voltage Regulator for equipment & linear power supply for ptz.

i've also tried to to check the twisted pair cable, the resistance is 15 ohm from control room to camera's location. The ptz working intermitent. we need to power off and going back on. when directly tested the ptz using sort distance cable with 4ohm resistance the ptz is working fine, but more than 4 ohm resistance (over 15ft) the ptz working intermintent. What is problem actually the ptz or twisted pair? What is solution to rectified the problem?

obviously the PTZ control signal is NOT 100% on longer wire, but, that does not mean the wire is bad. You need to check more than just the wire. Termination? RS device? DVR? The DVR/RS device maybe bad, sending a weak signal? PTZ needs to be checked with another DVR to eliminate.

Troubleshoot. Determine the good equipment and then work from there. Isolate to test. don't stick with the same equpiment when testing.

actually the ptz tested with others DVR. But the ptz still problem. Termination is connected properly i've change RS device to new one. Now i send my DVR & PTZ to supplier for checking. Let say the DVR & PTZ is good? What is your solution dude?

if everything checks good and you still have the problem, look at a cross-over of your wiring. ie. PTZ control wire running over or near a high voltage wire.
