New store...video needed...guidance requested

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am new to the CCTV business. I have specific needs (and some optional ones). I will list them all here and would like your advice and guidance on where to look for products and/or integrators. Here is some background:

1. Location: San Jose, CA

2. Small (800sqft) take out food shop

3. 12 foot ceilings

4. Two registers

5. Two entrances

6. Hourly workers

I am looking at a DVR based system (analog cameras are fine) that can capture what is going on in the store. I am thinking about the following as basic needs:

1. 8 fixed cameras (approximately)

2. High resolution over cash registers (2)

3. Network based, and ideally something I can get remotely

Optional:

1. PTZ may or many not be necessary

2. 1-2 low light cameras

3. Internet access

I am a computer guy and am willing to build/create some stuff, but if the reliability is questionable with that approach, I will pay 10% for a pre-built system. I am looking to spend $4-5K and would like to understand the options. Obviously, I would like to spend less, but I need to have a system that I can rely on. This is not a multi-million dollar store and I doubt it ever will be; however, I will not tolerate theft of any kind.

I could sure use some guidance and starting points on where to look and who to use. I am not adverse to used equipment and would gladly use used equipment in this endeavor.

You help and guidance is greatly appreciated. If I left information out of my requirements, please let me know and I will update it ASAP.

Thanks in advance,

-Kirk

Kirk,

I sent you a PM of someone close enough to your location that could help you out. However, the "10%" comment doesn't mean too much (you would be hard pressed to find someone to wake up for 10% these days, sort of like you wouldn't sell sandwiches at 10% either). In your price range you should be able to deploy a system that fits your needs. Give that guy a call I sent via PM and he can make recommendations, I know his quality of work is very good and his reputation is very positive.

Thanks....I'll follow-up with him. I filled out an online form for "security requests" from "buyerzone.com" aqnd am now getting calls from places like Ballard and RFI. Any thoguhts on these guys or this service? Are they good to work with? Is my email address doomed?

Thanks,

-Kirk
