Prewired Camera Wires . cat5e, rg6 with the 16 guage/2 wires

Recommended Posts

Hey Folks,

Once we close on the home, there are 4 areas that are prewired already and have the endings completed.

Cat5e cable

RG6 Cable

and ends not completed 16/2 power wires

Was looking at the system that are in the boxed stores that have camera/dvr etc. Unfortunately, they are all the BNC connection. I have been researching and teaching myself but found out various options to have this wiring work with these BNC connection.

1. Cut off the ends of the rg6 and redo with BNC connections, and get the power adapters to get power for the 16 guage/2 wires

2. Get F connector adapter to transition it to BNC connection

3. Get cat5e adapters that have BNC and power adapter/transitioner via the cat5e connection...

4. Using the cat5e and get systems that are POE

Various options. The cameras are all outdoor and will have some sort of covering over it so not fully exposed since its under the roofing soffits.

The length of the wiring is not longer then 250 nor 300 feet. Probably max 200 feet for one cable wire.

Cutting the rg6 and fitting bnc connection would be my first time trying, which i would have to practice a bit.

Not sure on people experience using either cat5e, or rg6 and using adapters/connections/balans to get things to work well. What would y'all recommend. Thanks!
