Matching PTZ to DVR

Recommended Posts

Hello, I recently purchased the following unit for some simple at home monitoring, specs here:

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01ABGC924/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And I want to add a ptz - Just an ebay 20x zoom 2mp ptz. Like so:

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/122212958972?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

My question comes from what wiring connection to get on the ptz side (the above is cat5) and therefore which wiring to run to it.

If the camera is 1080p and my unit lists 1080p as the NVR - Do I go with the cat5 connection on the camera end of things to attain the 1080p the camera is capable of rather than coax? (run power to camera separate rather than POE since its 25+ watts in the specs - and I dont have a switch or plans to use more than 1 ptz)

Ill have the DVR setup in an out building, with a wireless router.

So then I'd end up with:

DVR>ROUTER>CAT5+POWER>PTZ?

So the router would accept the IP ptz camera input, and also output on the wifi back to the house router?

Thanks for any help.

The reason I want to know if I should use the IP-NVR setup vs a BNC camera to BNC terminal on the DVR - is if I would lose much quality since its 1080N BNC vs 1080P IP input?

The BNC AHD cameras are roughly $50 cheaper than the IP, But I don't mind the cost, I just want to ensure I match the right camera and wiring to camera quality potential.
