Building a new home, planning a hardwired system.

Recommended Posts

Good morning and thanks for the space. I'm new to the CCTV market and trying to do my homework and understand what my options are. In doing so, I found myself here reading posts. Like the topic says, I'm building a new home and trying to plan a system for my new home. I have a basic plan, but am really curious if what I'm thinking, is possible.

I am looking at an 8 camera system, exterior and interior. I'm also wiring the home for networking. This has led me to look at POE systems to keep the wiring as simple as possible. In reading through posts here, I've been looking at the HIKVISION embedded plug and play NVR.

I would like to install the unit in the centrally located rack where the network equipment will be housed. Which leads me to a few questions since I have no knowledge of these systems at all. I understand the wiring for the camera's. That's the easy part, however, OUTPUTTING the video signals is where I get confused, and want to make sure I'm getting the right system for what I need. I will also be bringing all of the homes video distribution into the same cabinet. Since everything will be there, is it possible to output all of the camera's live feeds to every tv in the home? I've read about the rf modulators, and the boxes you can use to assign a specific channel range to your cable feed. Is that all I need to do? Most of these "plug and play" residential systems only have 1 output for HDMI and 1 VGA output. So am I asking for too much?

I would like us to be able to bring up the system from any room in the house if needed, and also have the ability to connect remotely via an app which this system appears to have.

Thank you again, and I appreciate any advice or reccomendations on how or where to look for answers.
