CAT5e 120 FT connect two 60 ft. or one 120 ft.

Recommended Posts

So Lorex is recommending that if I need 120 feet that I buy a 120 ft. cat5e cable rather than using two 60 ft cables connected together.

Does this have ANY Merit?

As it's digital I don't see how/why it would make a difference, i trust the community members more than a manufacturer... is what they're saying legit or BS?

its always best to have as few transitions as possible. So yes one cable is more reliable than 2. Thats not to say 2 cables wouldnt work just fine. Its just one more spot for something to go wrong.

What they said and something else to think about is the coupler easy to get to? If it is somewhere you dont want to ever mess with again after everything is installed than run the 120ft. If you want you can buy the wire in bulk and crimp on your own connecters. Im sure there is a youtube video on how to do it.
