IR Light Strip for IP Nightvision?

well, the Camera's don't really seem to even notice the LED's...

 

this is the camera pretty much directly above them, keep in mind it's probably getting washed out a a bit by the light coming out the doorway, things might improve over the weekend (it's not looking good though)

not sure what to make of it, they are just not that bright

Thats a shame...not that I had a high hope for them in the first place. On a side note that second camera is terrible!

I think the results are pretty in line with what most of us expected.

The 850nm is way brighter than the 940nm, more than I expected.

Are these the covert 940nm ones? or did you also get the 850nm?

 

looking from the Camera that can see both strips(picture link ending with B4F) actually glowing, the 940nm is on the left, the 840nm on the right

well, some good news

I had the LED's lifted up from 1m high to 3m high, there is now a reasonable spread of light in the yard, still nothing to write home about, but it's better!

I think our next moves (if we bother) would be to adjust the angle they are mounted at from 45 degree down to around a 75 degree elevation (so from horizontal only 20-30 degrees down) also swap the 940nm to 850nm, yet to actually have a look at them at night but the 940's just down put out that much light.

High mount looks a lot better on cam 2. It's not like daylight but decent enough to tell what's going on. Cam 1 is either just plain lousy or is verrrry dirty in addition to that spiderweb.

it's a crappy camera but good daylight image.

I think if we put even more LED around the place the image would get better... but that's a chunk of wattage we're throwing into that strip...

So in doing homework for my setup. I want to thank you all for your help, even if I get frustrated and seem somewhat short with you. (I apologize, but I'm on this forum b/c I can't trust my neighborhood )

 

Anywho, instead of a static lamp placed in one location with limited coverage in front of my house, would something like this work for IR lighting? http://www.ledlightsworld.com/smd5050150ir-infrared850nm-trichip-flexible-led-strips-30-leds-per-meter-p-243.html

 

It seems like it would provide even lighting if placed on the gutters, facing outwards of the house. Thoughts?

I like the idea, and 850nm is an IR wavelength. All depends on how much light it puts out but I have a similar strip I use for mood lighting and they are pretty bright, but not sure they would cast a light further than a few feet.

 

So 12v x 3A = 36w/150 LEDs. Seems like a decent amount, in theory 10x an incandescent bulb, or 360W incandescent equivalent.

850nm led strip to look smart.

just a FYI, those LED strips I was testing running 24/7 lasted around 6 months before catching fire
