Issue with Milestone Mobile

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I am using Milestone Xprotect Go with 6 Hik cameras. Everything seems to be working fine as far as viewing and recording but I can't get it to work on my phone or my house. I've installed the milestone mobile server component and set up everything with the localhost and port 8081 and added mobile server on the management software. I tried putting in my wan ip address in the settings there but it would not validate it so I kept it with the default. It works fine on my LAN but I can't get it to work from anywhere outside the local network.

Port 8081 is forwarded on my router correctly to the local ip address of the computer that is using milestone. However, when I go to canyouseeme to see if port 8081 is open, it shows that it is closed. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the help!

That's the problem. You need to figure out why that port is not open.

I'm guessing you not only have to forward the port but also put a security policy in place for that port in the security section.

I'll double check but I don't think so. I have the same router at my house and I've got several ports forwarded the same way. Everything in that router is under the port configuration tab and port 8081 is enabled on 10.1.10.14 (LAN with the software).

Could it have anything to do with the switch I am using? I was reading a little bit about this and thought that could be an issue. The switch I am using is Netgear ProSafe Plus JGS524PE-100NAS.

Any ideas?

Switches usually don't have any type of NAT so I doubt it.

Did you try disabling the windows firewall ?

Just tried it and still says port 8081 closed.

I enabled dmz mode for the PC with milestone and port 8081 now shows open and I can see the cameras on my phone and from my house. However, I still don't know why I can't open port 8081 individually... I know I did it right because I have other ports open individually.

Now I am having another issue with the server. Even with the DMZ enabled for the PC with milestone, when I log in from my phone or home it connects me for few moments and then disconnects automatically. When I log into the PC with teamviewer the server is stopped and I have to enable it manually. When I try to reconnect, same thing happens. It lets me connect and then disconnects after a few seconds of connection. Anyone know whats going on with that?

Both problems are solved. First for some reason on that SMC router I cannot have dmz enabled and ports forwarded. I disabled DMZ and forwarded all ports using port forwarding and all my equipment is working.

As for the server issue going offline, I downloaded the newest mobile server available and that solved that issue.

So everything is working great and I just wanted to let everyone know problems are resolved and thanks for helping.
