Hi, I've been successful in installing a HIKVISION DS-2CD3132 and using iVMS-4200 V2, I can monitor the cam, trigger email on intrusion detection etc... however I just can't make any recording happening on any detection,

Can we make this working using only iVMS-4200 ? or do we have to set up the Storage Server module ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jean-Louis

I am new to this myself and have had the same issue. After some research and twiddling with things I have come to the conclusion that event triggered recording only works if you have managed to assign a hard drive for it in the camera setup. In my case I have tried to assign the local C: drive on my laptop but it does not appear as a drive in the setup page so I cannot select it. However, when I plugged a usb drive into my laptop it did appear and I was given the option to format it. Unfortunately I need it so did not go ahead and format it but I think it probably would have worked.

Have you set up a drive and formatted it ?

Hi Steve6690, first of all thank you for your interest on this matter

No I didn't set up a specific drive, however in iVMS-4200 under Tool/System Configuration/File, we can configure the destination file for recording, I have for instance C:/ivms4200/video/ in which by the way I've recorded with success by pressing the "recording" red button located at the bottom right corner of the "Main view" screen.

I would rather think this should be working, don't you think ?

But still not being able to record automaticly on an alert / detection.

Still investigating

Hi, in my previous post I said we can configure the destination file for recording, I have for instance C:/ivms4200/video/ ad this is the saving path default value initiated by iVMS-4200, you can notice it is with / (slash) and not \ (backslash), when I try to to set other pathes either on C: drive or and external disk it generates the saving path with a \ (backslash) which I can saved in iVMS-4200, however when restarsting iVMS to take into effect the new paths (Video, Capture and Config) , the path for video is changed to 1 ( yes just the number 1) and the path for Capture is changed to 0.

I just don't get it

You are specifying the path for manual recording. I can also do that on my laptop. Event triggered recording is different and it seems to me that it can only happen if you have a separate hard drive or partition that does not also contain the operating system.

steve6690, I tried to allocate the space on an external HDD, not emptied but apparently with sufficient space (No message from iVMS telling me otherwise), but unfortunately when restarting iVMS, still the same result with the video and capture saving path set to "0" & "1"

OK now I understand that the file settinsg for video / Capture in the iVMS-4200 client is only for local recording, for instance when clicking on the bottom right red button on the Main view screen however for event recording we must setup the iVMS-4200 Storage server

This is why I proceed to a new installation on a dedicated desktop PC with both the "client" and the "storage server" running and followed the instruction from that iVMS-4200 Client software user's guide http://www.koukaam.se/koukaam/downloads/MAN_EN_iVMS-4200.pdf

Now when proceeding to the step 3.1.2 Recording on Storage Server and then trying to add the Storage Server which has been identified by the iVMS-4200 client and then clicking on remote config to add the HDD to be formated it appears that a User and password is requested ( got an invalid user or password error), tried all the possible ones, the iVMS-4200 client super user, the admin one for the cams, the OS User of the PC where resides the Storage server, none is working and of course Ican't move further in my installation.

What is the user resquested by this iVMS-4200 Storage Server ?

Thanks for your help

Made good progress today, first of all the initial User and Password for the Storage Server was admin and 12345,

- The Storage Server is up and running now on the Desktop PC.

- I've also added the "Storage Server" in my iVMS-4200 client on my laptop

- I've been able to record in the "Storage Server" on a move detection alert

- And access the recorded above file through "Remote Playback" from both iVMS-4200 client the one on the Desktop ad the other one on my Laptop

- However I can't record on an "Intrusion Alert" although I receive the alert email

I'm consequently wondering if we can record on an "Intrusion Alert" !!!! any thoughts ?

Will continue my investigation

Hello, still no progress, I'm looking for your help and advices

I've been searching and still unable to trigger recording on the Storage server for any "Intrusion" or "Traverse plane" alerts although I receive an email for everyone of these alerts.

However I can trigger recording for all the "Moving detection" alerts , but as mentioned by evrybody we get too many many false alerts 'Due to rain, change from cloudy sky to sunny sky etc..), this is why I want rather use the Intrusion and / or Traverse plane detection which is working just fine for me (except of course the recording)

My configuration is the following:

- IP Camera DS-2CD3132-I with FW V5.2.0 build 140721

- iVMS-4200 V5.2.0

- Storage Server DS-NVR-V120xxxxxxx (The one coming in the package with the iVMS-4200 V5.2.0)

I've tried different settings, different recording schedule scenari, etc.. without any success

Has anyone being able to record on the Storage Server for "Intrusion" and / or "Traverse Plane" alerts ?
