PoE power pins of RJ45 connector

Recommended Posts

Hi ,

What is the standard pins that PoE uses regarding the IP cams?

Is it pin 4-5 for positive and 7-8 for negative ? (48v)

I want to test some IP cams and want to put power to them with RJ45

I disagree with the statements above.

Pins 3 & 6 are +56v

Pins 1 & 2 are return.

The POE is an automatic negotiation between the device and the POE source.

You not going to get anywhere just applying power.

What the OP is describing is Mode B poe sometimes called passive. There is no negotiation using this method. 802.3af compliant devices need to support mode A and mode B.

So what pinout i use for PoE camera T568A or T568B i have proper PoE 802.3AF switch (not one of the cheap ones that work in passive mode all the time).

Makes no difference. As long as its the same at both ends of the cable.
