Got myself in a bit of a mess!

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I'm a newbie to this forum!

I've got a problem with my CCTV system & wonder if someone can help me.

Firstly, I've got the Hikvision DS-7608NI-E2/8P NVR with 5 x Hikvision DS-2CD2142FWD-1 cameras.

I've recently upgraded the firmware on the cameras from V 5.3.8 Build 151224 to V 5.4.0 build 160401 then to V 5.4.1 build 160525

All seemed well until I noticed the live view was indicating a yellow warning triangle botom left, the narrative being "resolution or bitrate of substream not supported" This related to one of the cameras.

At this stage, the live views to my TV directly from the NVR were working ok and still are.

When I accessed the affected camera through the main menus, I found that I was denied access to the substeam section with a message "operation failed. This function is not supported by the camera" even though I could see the various sections were populated.

This problem is also affecting the operation of the iVMS-4500 application on my smartphone & iPad with the affected camera refusing to appear, although strangely, they all work when in night mode!!

The iVMS-4200 application on my PC is also playing up.

I notice on this application, going through Remote Configuration, in the section configuring the image quality, resolution and Other parameters of the camera, the video section of the affected camera has only Main stream & event stream present in the stream type drop down, whereas all the other cameras have the Main, Sub & Event streams present.

It looks like for some reason the substream is missing from this camera but I can't find anywhere on the system menus to correct this.

Hope there's enough info here to enable someone to help.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

if the old firmware that the cameras came with worked, i would flash back to the version that was working. Sounds like the newer firmware has some compatibility issues.
